The Sixth Street Bridge in Los Angeles cost taxpayers $588 million. Because of repeated copper wire thefts, it no longer lights up at night. The City now admits it takes them sometimes up to 270 days to fix one streetlight. Also, instead of punishing the criminals who are committing these thefts and forcing them to pay restitution, the City today just voted to increase everyone’s taxes with a new fee hike. Our LA government at work.

There are now extensive back & forth with Newsom and others in the media regarding the exposure of massive fraud here in California. Anytime someone posts on social media about the massive fraud happening here, Newsom immediately shouts back on social that “we” are arresting people and punishing fraud. Just so we are all clear, most of us here in CA have known about the fraud crisis for a long time. And, anytime I see Newsom say anything about public safety - really all you have to say is “Gascón.” Newsom brought Gascón to SF. He appointed him SF police chief. He appointed him SFDA. He supported and endorsed him when he ran for SFDA. And he supported and endorsed him when he ran for LADA - twice. When Gascón took office in LA, almost all fraud type charges were considered $0 bail. Yes. The fraudsters were all just released. This was a written policy. Any enhancements for insurance fraud, check fraud, ID theft, credit card fraud, real estate fraud, medical services fraud, etc were removed completely. Gone. Even if we could prove them. Again, a written policy. So if there were elderly or vulnerable victims, a very high monetary loss and/or multiple victims - we were NOT allowed to charge enhancements. Ever. I never saw or heard Newsom make one peep about victims of fraud or what Gascón did to LA. Not one. Gascón and Newsom also supported Prop 47. That made most check fraud a misdemeanor. Gascón and Newsom also didn’t support Prop 36. Newsom is now all over our fraud crisis in CA, almost 7 years after he has been governor, because … the media is now involved. But a leader prioritizes public safety even when the media isn’t reporting on it. Our governor is supposed to care about how crime affects working families, the elderly, vulnerable victims, children and all of us … not just how he or she looks in the public eye.

Please don’t say you support victims and survivors and are against child abuse when: -You supported Prop 47 -You supported elder parole for child rapists -You supported mental health diversion for child abuse, domestic violence and attempted murder -You supported Gascón, Boudin and Price -You supported $0 bail -You supported defunding the police -You supported early release of sex traffickers & rape by drugs -You said selling or buying a child for sex was only a misdemeanor -You want to remove life without the possibility of parole for children who are murdered by torture -You stayed quiet and said nothing when Gascón ordered his prosecutors to not charge crimes in LA -You stayed quiet for 5 years when even our child abuse and homicide detectives were ridiculed daily for just doing their job. I try to be consistent. I try to follow what I believe is the fair and right thing to do regardless of politics. Most elected officials don’t. This is part of the problem here in CA and LA - they are all bought and paid for. They don’t really work for us. They don’t really care.

Again, the media doing the job of the State of CA, LA City and LA County (thank you Fox 11). The facts: LA City used $10.2 million in taxpayer money in 2020 to purchase a vacant 32-unit Ramada Inn to help with the homeless crisis. It only stayed open a little over a year for interim homeless housing and has since been vacant for almost 4 years. A non-profit was gifted the property by the City and the City has now spent almost $20 million total in taxpayer funds on this still vacant property. There is, however, a homeless encampment right near the vacant $20 million property that is supposed to house the homeless. Taxes continue to be increased, our city and county continue to ask for more money, and our failed leaders continue to get re-elected or just get elected to other positions even though CA has the most homeless veterans in the entire country.
Matthew Seedorff@MattSeedorff

NEW: A former Ramada Inn bought to quickly house people experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles has now sat vacant for nearly 4 years. The cost has since climbed to about $20 million for what will be 32 units of supportive housing.

As a military veteran, American and Iranian-American, I would like to send my prayers to all the military men & women in harms way. We support you & we pray for you. Especially all of us who know what sacrifices you are making. Roxanne and I also pray for the safety of all the children, families and Iranian innocents who just want to be free. Some of us truly take our freedoms in this country for granted. Some of us can’t even walk down the street, with our hair down, wind blowing through it, singing, and just enjoying life. Think about that. There is no due process in Iran. No matter if you support Trump and his actions or are against Trump and disapprove of his actions, it is a great day that Khamenei has been eliminated. He was a terrorist. He was responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocents including children. Thirty years of oppression! You are either for freedom and human rights for all or you are not. Politics and power shouldn’t control your morals and beliefs. Iranians want to be free. Iranians deserve to be free. Roxanne and I chose freedom. I was in Iran once, as a baby. I would love, as an American military veteran, to visit again - with my children.

So if Traci’s campaign talked with and engaged 1,600 registered voters from Sat. to Wed., that’s about 320 ppl per day, compared to about 90/day for Faizah. That’s IF Faizah turns in 1,000. Sounds like Traci’s field operation is more robust than Faizah and DSA on the Westside.

On single payer healthcare @MattMahanSJ is right and @TomSteyer is wrong (as usual). Medi-Cal's out of control cost growth is a hint of what would happen under single payer. But it would be even worse because a fully state-run system can't be subsidized by private insurance.
