LA County Taxpayers Association
@LATaxpayers
Los Angeles County's first Taxpayers Association. Together we will fight against wasteful and unchecked spending to ensure a bright and golden future for LA.

NEW: A former Ramada Inn bought to quickly house people experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles has now sat vacant for nearly 4 years. The cost has since climbed to about $20 million for what will be 32 units of supportive housing.

Good news Tax limits (2026): The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association is submitting roughly 1.2 million signatures this week (it needs around 874,000) for a ballot measure that would raise the voter threshold for local taxes and limit real estate transfer taxes — a provision that directly implicates LA’s besieged “mansion tax.” Developers and business groups are continuing to plow money into the campaign, which disclosed raising another $1.7 million last week.

The first candidate to submit their nomination petitions for review is Councilmember Park. A remarkably quick turnaround.

Councilmember Park is officially the first City/LAUSD candidate to qualify for the ballot. She also has the bragging rights of doing so w/o paying the filing fee by submitting 1k valid in district signatures instead of the normal 500 + filing fee. (replacing tweet w/ a typo)

California’s governor race took a bizarre turn when progressive supporters of Tom Steyer, the race’s lone billionaire, ripped San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan for being supported by too many billionaires. sfchronicle.com/politics/artic…
