The Full Federal Court has handed down its judgement in Giggle v Tickle.
In a shock to women across the country - Sall Grover not only lost her appeal, the Court set aside the original finding of indirect discrimination and replaced it with direct discrimination, upholding Tickle's cross-appeal.
The damages were doubled from $10,000 to $20,000.
It’s important to note the Court expressly said it was only applying the Sex Discrimination Act as it is written- it is "not empowered to give effect to its own view" about whether that law is desirable.
In 2013, @JuliaGillard’s @AustralianLabor government amended the Sex Discrimination Act- stripping the meaning out of "man" and "woman" and adding gender identity as a protected attribute to be pitted against biological sex.
Today's outcome is proof of what those amendments have done: women are left with no meaningful rights or recognition under the Sex Discrimination Act - a bitter irony, given that protecting women was the very purpose of the Act under our commitment to CEDAW.
In my opinion, this is a verdict on the law, not on Sall. The judges found that the law - as that government amended it - left them no other conclusion.
These amendments must be repealed.
The Sex Discrimination Act must once again recognise biological reality and protect women's right to single-sex spaces.
What a dark and devastating day for Australian women and girls.

Last week I was interviewed for a podcast.
The host asked what motivates me to keep speaking up publicly for women’s sex-based rights - given what it’s cost me: my business, income, relationships with family and friends and even damage to the lovely choir I founded.
“Because I know I’m right,” I said.
There are many things in life I feel less certain about. Issues where I can see both sides and remain open to changing my mind.
But biological reality is not one of them.
The denial of biological sex - and with it the erosion of women’s rights to their own spaces, services and sports - is indefensible.
I’m yet to hear a single convincing argument for why men should be granted access to women’s and girls’ single-sex spaces - against their will.
Because there isn’t one.
It’s indefensible.
And beyond that, the assault on freedom of speech - and freedom of thought - is obvious to me.
If politicians, policymakers and the public can be pressured into agreeing that the man standing in front of them is literally a woman - and that society must reorganise itself around that belief - then what else could people be persuaded to deny?
What other obvious truths become negotiable?
That is what concerns me most.

We’ve talked about “Gabrielle” Darone, the trans-identifying man who joined a women’s support group for mothers who had experienced stillbirth after “simulating” one of his own. He got grieving women kicked out of this group for objecting to his behavior, which included asking women if he could “breast feed” their infants.
Would you believe that he wasn’t a one-off?
Meet “Kylie Palm,” another man who pretended to be pregnant and then faked a stillbirth. He even tried to raise money for a doll to “help him grieve” for his imaginary baby. Mr. Palm also joined a parental grief/stillbirth group, and he, too got women who had experienced the loss of an actual child kicked out of their own support group.

Nurseries have been urged to report “racist toddlers” to the police under taxpayer-funded guidance backed by Labour.
Welsh nurseries are being advised to report young children to the police for “racist incidents” under guidance backed by the Welsh Labour Government.
Recommended actions for childcare workers include calling 999 in emergencies, speaking to police officers, and taking “relevant action in conjunction with the police, ensuring you record all details of the incident”.
If the incident is not deemed a “hate crime”, childcare workers are advised to take steps including offering “age-appropriate learning support opportunities for the perpetrator”.
Should very young children resist, childcare workers are instructed to draw up a “disciplinary route”, with outcomes explained in a flowchart. Staff are also advised to conduct an “understanding audit” and rank, on a scale of 1–5, how well they “understand what white privileged is and how it can affect my life and the lives of others”.
Childcare staff are also expected to audit the environment to ensure books, dolls, posters and displays are diverse, and to “make sure your anti-racist stance is visible” — including through the snacks provided. The toolkit is also designed to protect “global majority” staff against the threat of racism.
This guidance is contained in a document produced by Diversity and Anti-Racist Professional Learning, an organisation based at Cardiff Metropolitan University which has received more than £1.3 million from the Welsh Labour Government since 2021.
The guidance, along with advice on reporting hate crime, has also been shared by the National Day Nurseries Association.
Another bizarre aspect of the guidance is that it tells childcare workers: “Toileting practices vary across cultures. These practices may be very different from your own, but it does not make them unsanitary or incorrect.”
The police should not have their time wasted dealing with “racist” children or “hate crimes” allegedly committed by toddlers.
In 2023, 90 per cent of all crimes went unsolved. We do not need frontline police officers diverted into policing the speech of toddlers.

And he (the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace) answered, ‘The city of Heraclius will be conquered first!’” Rome is the metropolis of Italy today, and Constantinople is now Istanbul. What can be grasped from the posed question is that the companions (may Allah be pleased with them all) knew beforehand that Islam would conquer the two cities, and their people would embrace Islam, but they just wanted to know which of the two cities would precede the other, thus he (the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace) answered them by saying that the city of Heraclius – that is Constantinople – would be conquered first. That prophecy was fulfilled at the hands of the ambitious Ottoman youth, Muhammad bin Murâd, aged twenty-three, who was known through history by Muhammad the Conqueror. Thus, Constantinople was conquered in the ninth century A.H. [fifteenth century A.D.], precisely on Tuesday 20th of Jumada I 857 A.H. (29 May –1453 A.D.). Thus, remains the second part of the glad tidings to be fulfilled: the conquest of Rome, through which Islam will enter Europe once again after it was forced out of it twice: once from Andalusia and the other from the Balkan states. Let me tell you why a Muslim would stab a random Jewish person on the streets of London.
I was raised Muslim, and I know exactly why this happens. It’s not a reaction to the war in Gaza. It’s not oppression. It’s not radicalization. It’s the logical outcome of Islam itself.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a Muslim or not, we as human beings carry guilt deep inside us. We know we are not good enough, and we spend our life trying to redeem ourself through good deeds, thinking it will make the suffocating guilt go away.
Christianity for example offers a way out of guilt, a solution not based on your works but on Christ’s.
Salvation isn’t earned, it’s given. You accept that you can’t redeem yourself, because Christ already did everything on your behalf. That means you’re free. Free to live, free to build, free to serve, free to love.
And when a Christian feels lost, broken, and in need of forgiveness, they can go to church, talk to a pastor or priest, and leave knowing they are forgiven.
Islam, on the other hand, doesn’t offer redemption, it weaponizes guilt.
Instead of providing salvation, Allah exposes you, holds your sins over your head, and threatens you with hellfire and torture in the grave.
The Quran isn’t a book of peace, it’s a book of threats. It bullies Muslims into obedience through fear, humiliation, and punishment.
So what happens when a Muslim seeks redemption? They try to be better Muslims.
They pray, fast, give to charity, go on Hajj, do everything Allah commands. But it never works. I know it. I did it.
And no matter how much you pray, no matter how much you try, the guilt never goes away. Because deep down, every Muslim knows it’s not enough. Allah always demands more.
Allah loves those who die fighting against the infidels. That’s not an opinion, it’s in the Quran, in Hadith, in every lesson taught to children.
This is why Muslims, even the so-called "moderates," always hesitate to condemn terrorism. Because they know jihad is required by Allah. They might not be willing to commit it themselves, but they can't say it’s wrong.
So when a Muslim fails to reach peace through religious rituals, they have two choices:
Give up, stop being devout, and learn to live with the guilt, or commit to jihad, because that’s the only way to be true to yourself.
The Quran spells it out clearly: “Kill those who do not worship Allah or obey the Prophet” (9:29).
So when a Muslim embraces this identity fully, killing infidels isn’t just justified, it’s joyful. It’s an act of:
Saving yourself, obeying Allah, securing your eternity, finally escaping the crushing weight of guilt
This is why a Muslim can stab a random jewish person on the streets and feel nothing but satisfaction.
Because for the first time in his life, he finally believes he has done something worthy of redemption.
