In EMPACT-MI, a randomized trial involving 6522 patients post-acute myocardial infarction, empagliflozin did not significantly reduce the combined outcome of heart failure hospitalization or death compared to placebo over a period of 17.9 months. Once again, a drug that effectively treats chronic heart failure proves ineffective when administered in the acute phase of myocardial infarction. This echoes the experience observed with sacubitril–valsartan in the PARADISE-MI trial. #ACC24 nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…

Presented today at #ACC24: In the DanGer Shock trial involving patients with STEMI and cardiogenic shock, mortality at 6 months was lower with mechanical circulatory support with a microaxial flow pump than with standard care alone. Full trial results: nej.md/3xyXU3t
