🇺🇬 In a flurry of posts on X, Uganda’s military chief Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, now well-known for firing off wild statements he later deletes or apologizes for, weighed in on the Iran war. He stood in solidarity with Israel and suggested Uganda could enter the war if Israel faces defeat. “If Tehran dares hit us with missiles, we shall retaliate with our own missiles,” he added, saying Israel “only need ask” for support from “their Ugandan brothers.” He said any attempt to “destroy or defeat Israel” would bring Uganda “into the war… on the side of Israel,” and separately offered his take on Cuba, claiming an “colonialist” or “imperialist” attack there would mark “the beginning of World War 3.” In a separate, now-deleted post on X, General Kainerugaba added that Israel and the US could have taken Tehran “in 72 hours,” and without bombing, had they sought Uganda’s help: “But of course they never listen to a black man.”

This statement strongly implies that members of Congress were informed by the administration today that ground operations are all but declared on Iranian territory. Let me categorically state: there is nothing of strategic significance such a tiny force of a few thousand marines and airborne troops could accomplish. It will not open the Straits. It will not compel the Iranian gov to collapse or surrender. Sending these men into combat on a militarily unattainable mission is reprehensible. If the president orders this operation, all the casualties that result will be an egregious and flagrant sacrifice of their lives to satisfy one man’s pride and arrogance, but in no way, shape or form, will they have died defending their country. If I were a family member of any of these troops and my loved one was sent to death for the vanity of one man, I would be outraged. As it turns out, I am outraged anyway, and all Americans should be if the lives of our service members are held in such content by our political leadership.

Missile programme to be addressed at a later stage, with limits on quantity and range. 7. Use of nuclear programmes restricted to civilian/defensive purposes only. 8. Development of existing nuclear capabilities halted. 9. No further expansion of enrichment capabilities. 10. No production of weapons-grade nuclear material on Iranian soil. 11. All enriched material to be handed over to the IAEA within an agreed timeline. 12. Natanz, Isfahan and Fordow to be taken out of use (destroyed). 13. International monitoring and verification mechanisms enforced. 14. Gradual implementation tied to compliance. 15.Additional regional and security understandings between the parties.

One advantage the Iranians have is that their entire elite seems to consist of 130 IQ polymath combat veterans with PhDs who stormed across minefields with fixed bayonets surrounded by poison gas back in the day and then spent 30 years studying philosophy, game theory, engineering and military science. Average decision-maker quality appears to be dramatically higher than elsewhere, especially qualified for shit-hits-the-fan situations
