@theawayfans Leeds season tickets being cheaper than most of the 4th division for some reason. Eight quid cheaper than neighbouring Halifax!

@theawayfans Prices mean nothing unless you present comparisons then & now. For instance, I remember in the 1970’s a seat at football was about the same as a cinema ticket & standing on the terraces was even cheaper. Comparisons between 2 entertainments then & now is way more significant.🤔😮

Gentle reminder that the United States – the country that spent eighty years lecturing the entire planet about freedom, democracy, and the sacred bond between allies – has decided to become friends with the Bond villain. Not metaphorically. Literally. The actual shirtless horse man who poisons people in English cathedral towns and annexes neighbouring countries for sport. And if that weren’t enough, they’re now voting alongside North Korea in the United Nations. North Korea. A country so committed to its own citizens’ welfare that they’re mostly dead or eating bark. But here’s the part the newspapers won’t quite say out loud, because apparently that’s not their job anymore. Trump does not represent America. He represents Trump. And his son. And his other son. And his son-in-law. And whatever financial instrument they happen to be holding that particular Tuesday. The rest of America – the 330 million people, the institutions, the judges, the scientists, the soldiers who actually believed in the alliance – they’re still there. Watching. Horrified. Outvoted by people in hats. And while you’re busy watching that, look over there. No, there. He’s done it again. Twenty-eight times – twenty-eight – the man has cratered the stock market, waited for his supporters to panic-sell everything they own, then pumped it back up once he and his associates have quietly bought the dip. It’s not chaos. It’s a business model. The journalists know this. They have the data, the timestamps, the receipts. And yet somehow every morning they wake up and write “markets rattled by uncertainty” as if uncertainty just wandered in on its own. And the people holding the matches keep telling us it’s raining.

@rushicrypto When you resort to “gated communities” to keep a section of society safe from the poor people, you know that this society is on the verge of collapse. The USA is a prime example of this with unimaginable scales of homelessness living side by side with the mega wealthy.

I don’t think people want pure capitalism or pure socialism. People just want to afford rent. Go to the doctor without fear. Have clean streets, good schools, decent wages, and still have freedom. The happiest countries on earth figured out that balance matters. Too much greed destroys people. Too much control does too. Most normal people are just asking for a system that actually lets them live.

Brexit only benefited the enemies of the UK and Europe. It was a traitorous, pro-Russian move that fractured Western unity. Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage played massive roles in delivering this disaster, handing Vladimir Putin his ultimate geopolitical dream

🇺🇸 The Gun People Who Can’t Spot a Tyrant America is, when you think about it, absolutely magnificent in its absurdity. Here is a country so profoundly committed to the idea of armed resistance against government overreach that it wrote the whole thing down in its founding document. The Second Amendment. Sacred text. Non-negotiable. The entire philosophical premise being: we the people shall remain armed, so that should any future government attempt to seize illegitimate power, we can stop them. Remarkable foresight, really. There is, however, one rather catastrophic design flaw in this otherwise bold constitutional experiment. It assumed the people clutching the rifles would actually recognize tyranny when it walked through the front door, wiped its feet on the Constitution, and sat down in the Oval Office. They do not. It turns out you can dismantle democratic institutions in plain sight, in real time, on television, and roughly half the population will respond by eating toast. Some bacon, perhaps. A scroll through Instagram. Maybe a bit of outrage about something a liberal said in 2025. The checks are gone. The balances, wobbling. Career officials purged. Courts packed. The press called enemies of the state. Federal prosecutors weaponized. And the proud defenders of liberty, the people who will fight you to the death over a bump stock, are furious about exactly none of it. Because nobody told them what authoritarianism actually looks like in the early stages. It doesn’t arrive in a tank. It arrives in a suit, with a slogan, and it’s on your side, and it’s very mean to the people you already didn’t like. So they sit there. Chewing. Scrolling. Completely unaware that the country they are willing to die for has already, quietly, become a rather different country entirely. The guns, I should note, remain absolutely fine.

We don't have a domestic oil and gas industry. Our oil and gas is extracted under licence by corporate entities. It belongs to them. It does not benefit us. In fact it has cost the country trillions in a potential sovereign wealth fund because our north sea resources were sold off for a pittance.
Claire Coutinho@ClaireCoutinho

It’s almost beyond belief, but yes, Labour’s energy policy is to shut down our own domestic oil and gas industry whilst directly funding Putin’s war machine instead. On Tuesday, while Labour MPs were voting to ban new British oil and gas licences, behind the scenes the Government quietly announced that it was easing sanctions on Russian oil. Why? Because by shutting down British production, Miliband and Starmer are making us more reliant on foreign imports. As Kemi Badenoch rightly said at Prime Minister’s Questions, Labour think oil from Russia is acceptable, but oil from Aberdeen is not. We are in the extraordinary position of Ukraine’s sanctions chief criticising our country, whilst UK officials brief out that the fault lies with Starmer and Miliband for being asleep at the wheel as UK energy supplies have been put increasingly under strain. Here’s the problem. Production is not the same as consumption. If you shut down our means of making fuel, it doesn’t mean we need any less. All it does is make us more reliant on foreign regimes for that very same fuel. What’s worse is that this fuel will almost certainly have lower environmental standards and produce more emissions as it is shipped across the world to get here. We lost a third of our oil refineries last year. We have just four left. By the end of the Parliament we could have zero as they are being forced out of existence thanks to an onerous Carbon Tax and high energy costs. Some of our refineries are spending more on the Government’s Carbon Tax – which doubled last year under Ed Miliband – than on their entire wage bill. Guess who doesn’t face this crushing tax? The Indian refineries which are at the centre of the current storm. That’s what lifting the sanctions is allowing in: jet fuel and diesel from these refineries which, unlike our own, use Putin’s oil and have twice the emissions because, unlike our own, they are powered by coal. What kind of climate leadership is this? Where is it leading to? Bankruptcy? We have to face up to reality. The world is getting more dangerous and other countries like the US, the Middle East and Asia have not put punishing carbon taxes on their own industry. They are not shutting down their oil and gas industries – in fact, they are doing everything they can to maximise their own energy supplies. However, this is the logical conclusion of Ed Miliband’s plans. If you place higher burdens on our industry than other countries, then British production will decline. That does not mean we will need any less oil, gas, jet fuel, chemicals or plastics, we will just become more reliant on foreign regimes over whom we have no control. There is an alternative. But it requires a government prepared to abandon Ed Miliband’s zealotry and back our own domestic production instead. We need to repeal the Climate Change Act, axe the Carbon Tax, Get Britain Drilling, double down on nuclear and make electricity cheap. That’s the plan that the Conservatives put forward on Tuesday - but the one that Labour MPs rejected.

@RobertJenrick We left the UK due to Brexit, the increase in racism and the general erosion of public services, all of which has been fostered & enabled by your far-right ideology. We won’t return while people like you are anywhere near policy or power.

🚨 🚨 ‼️ 🔥 Channel 4 has uncovered that Nigel Farage has a county court judgment against him for almost £10,000. A Reform UK spokesperson confirmed Farage was unaware of the judgment until Channel 4 brought it to his attention. 🔥 Another financial embarrassment layered on top of £5m Thai crypto donor saga, the £1.4m cash house questions, the shifting explanations, and the Parliamentary Standards inquiry. This is the package. Dodgy money, dodgy judgments, zero transparency. #ReformUK
