biorxiv.org/content/10.648… New preprint from our lab! Solving antagonist-bound GPCR structures is becoming easier with fusion markers, but linker optimization between GPCR and marker is still a bottleneck. (1/2)

Alzheimer’s is often talked about in numbers. But for families, it’s personal. “It’s a slow bereavement,” says CSHL Professor Nicholas Tonks, whose mother lived with Alzheimer’s. “You lose the person piece by piece.” While brain plaques are part of the problem, Tonks and his lab found that another naturally occurring protein, PTP1B, which he discovered back in 1988, drives memory loss, offering a promising new target for future therapies. Targeting PTP1B improved learning and memory — and helped the brain’s immune cells clear harmful plaques. Learn more about this discovery and the early, but hopeful step toward slowing progression and improving quality of life. cshl.edu/researchers-fi… 🔖 Save to return to this story 📥 Share to spread awareness 🧠 Follow for more breakthroughs shaping the future of medicine #Alzheimers #InspiringDiscovery #ScienceMakesLifeBetter

Our paper on conductance control and neurosteroid binding in NMDAR has been officially published. I have attached a movie that describes a sub-open and a full-open channel. Surprising diversity in neurosteroid binding patterns as well. nature.com/articles/s4158…
