Because the left doesn't actually care about themselves morally failing if it's still acceptable to their peer group, and making woke excuses for it helps signal to their peers that meat consumption is actually Based and Praxis because of x y z reasons.

veganism is not inherently a morally superior position. the vegetables and fruits you consume are also harvested via immense cruelty & exploitation, not to even mention indigenous practices or food deserts. if you care about animals, the position to take is anti-capitalism.

Veganism isn't about if killing animals unnecessarily is sustainable or bad for the environment, it's about the killing itself. If you're killing when other options exist, it's an unnecessary violation of the rights of another. This applies to people of all races and ethnicities.

Cause indigenous people did it for tens of thousands of years without issue and white capitalism did it for 100 years and the earth is on the verge of collapse. Inuit harvesting whales is not the same as commercial overfishing and it's genuinely racist to treat it like it is.
