Imagine if runners had a way to add aerobic volume without adding a ton more pounding. That would be so nice…wouldn’t it??? Oh, wait. That’s right. The bike exists. FEELS ILLEGAL

@VocalCurmudgeon @_sorrengailll Maybe the noise reduction in modern air pods is enough for the kids to turn down the volume. I kept my volume low by using Etymotic ER4SR in ear monitors w/33dB of passive attenuation. They should never be used when you walk around. They’re so quiet, you hear microphonic noise.

@hlovo_ I agree. My neighbor drove me to the hospital for surgery in his new Porsche Macan EV SUV. He scared the crap out of me by weaving all over the road. Does the silly thing apply assistive steering when he crosses a lane line? The thing is heavy & high off the ground. I hate it.

@darkdetermined @Advocacy_tech @HankFrank The 2 guys who ran a rowing studio in NYC used to row an 8 on January 1st, no matter the weather. It was life threatening but that’s what they did. I believe they all rowed at Yale. One year,a crew member was dying of cancer. They bundled him up & took him out in the boat. 😢

@darkdetermined @Advocacy_tech @HankFrank That poor kid. It broke my heart when I read about what happened. It’s not easy to right a flipped single scull. Craftsbury tests you on doing it but you’re not required to succeed. There are launches on the lake. They will come and rescue you. I never flipped but it happens.

@Brady_H My favorite is the rule for the 5k. You should not drink or take anything during the race. Drink before the race. Your kidneys hold water when you run. Run full tilt boogie from beginning to end.

You should take 1 energy gel during a half marathon. At 10k.

Some poor kid joined the Northwestern rowing team, couldn’t swim, got jettisoned from the boat, and drowned. If the whole boat flips, hold onto the boat. It’s the biggest flotation device you’ve got.

@LarryKellogg @Advocacy_tech @HankFrank I watch local rowers at the lake all the time! Sometimes they get close to a bridge when I’m on it and I jump up and down and cheer them on like an absolute child. I love it. Joining could be in my future.

@Advocacy_tech @darkdetermined @HankFrank Yeah, be careful. I don’t know how to balance running and rowing. I messed up because I ran my coach’s workouts and an advanced marathon training plan. I was a dumb ass. My doctor said, don’t run the marathon, it will be a shit show. I said, is that your professional opinion?

@LarryKellogg @darkdetermined @HankFrank That’s crazy. I am trying to find a balance between running and rowing with the latter my first love. Got this beast which caused me to find a love of hiking and then long walks and that morphed to 5mph walks now. I am just a mess

My dad is having prostate surgery today. He's had a catheter for months. Yesterday it came apart. Since he's having surgery today, he didn't go to the ER, he fixed it with a hose clamp. He brought a hex head screwdriver to the hospital in case the doctors didn't have one.

it’s been about 48 hours since i moved to philly and every single moment has been like this. joyful and tender and yes, brotherly. i’m going to grow old and die in this city.
