@PaulaMc007 @bristol_citizen Downs Syndrome isn’t a disease, it is a genetic defect called Trisomy 21 & is caused by having two copies of chromosome 21. Downs affects around one in fifteen hundred people. Mr Tolley needs immediate help & simply cannot be left lonely & #Homeless & needs a permanent home.

A lovely vintage colour photo of the White Swan Hotel in Stratford-upon Avon. Not sure of the year but no health and safety yet if you look at the men fixing the roof.

As #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek has started it is opportune to remind people that not all illnesses are visible. PTSD & its more complex cousin C-PTSD are not lifestyle choices. Both can happen to anyone exposed to serious trauma which then goes deep and is embedded in the mind itself. Neither should be confused with mild anxiety and cannot be diagnosed without engaging a suitably qualified professional who will probably be a clinical psychiatrist. Even the strongest minds can succumb eventually. Military commanders, personal working undercover over many years & witnessing atrocities, front line medical staff or someone just working in an ordinary job can experience either form of these debilitating & life changing mental health issues. PTSD is usually something that occurs following one traumatic event, whereas C-PTSD happens when a series of traumatic events happen in succession as could be experienced by an abused child or an undercover police or army operative. It might have started with one serious event in childhood followed by another & then more until, even in later life a bridge is crossed and the individual can no longer cope with the memories. Waking with horrific nightmares & experiencing sleep deprivation. As I say please don’t judge because not all illnesses are visible.

💫Some of the hardest parts of living with #lupus are often invisible to others. For Nandan (Dan), the diagnosis wasn’t just physical. It was also isolating at times. But everything began to shift when he found something he didn’t expect – a community that truly understood. A place where his experience was seen, heard, and shared and where hope became something real. As Dan said, “I found a new peer and caregiver family.” You are not alone in this. Watch Dan’s story and see how community can change everything. #LupusAwarenessMonth #HopeInActionTheFutureOfLupus #HopeInAction

A boy in England named Owen Howkins, seven years old at the time, had a condition called Schwartz-Jampel syndrome. There are only about thirty people in the world with it. His muscles were permanently tensed and never relaxed, so he was in constant pain and needed a wheelchair for any real distance. By the age of seven he had basically stopped going outside. He couldn’t handle the way people looked at him. His family came across a dog on Facebook. An Anatolian Shepherd, a big livestock breed, that had been found as a puppy tied to a railway line in north London. He’d been struck on the tracks before anyone could get to him. He survived, but he lost a back leg and his tail. The rescue had been trying to rehome him for months without luck. The breed has a tough reputation in Britain and nobody wanted a disabled one. The first time the dog, Haatchi, was brought into the room, he walked straight to Owen’s wheelchair and laid his head in the boy’s lap. Owen’s stepmum, a dog trainer, said the moment was the strangest thing she’d ever seen. Within a year Owen was walking around his neighbourhood telling strangers his dog’s story. In 2013 the pair won an award at Crufts, Britain’s biggest dog show, voted on by the public. A short film about the two of them got close to two million views. A book about them, Haatchi & Little B, came out in 2014. Years later Owen, by then a teenager, said it plainly. “I used to be scared of strangers, then Haatchi came along and now I’m not. I didn’t meet many others with disabilities and felt like the odd one out. But when I saw Haatchi and saw how strong he was, even though he only had three legs, I became stronger myself.” Have you ever known an animal that genuinely changed a person?

Unfortunately I don’t think anyone has really got their heads around them, hence the ongoing issue! Maybe some (inevitable, perhaps given the current situation) inflation to an extent will help alleviate some of the symptoms, but even so, debt is debt and it doesn’t go away it just builds until paid off.

The mechanism which effectively sets the interest rate for UK government debt, gilt yields, has today reached a level last seen following the 2008 financial crisis for short term, 10 year gilts and aren’t far off the levels at end of the 1990’s for longer-dated 30 year gilts. Simplistically, this means that government debt will be costing more as a result of the lack of appetite from lenders to lend the government money (already averaging between £8-9Bn per month - or approx £270 Million per day in interest alone - not capital repayment!) More than the entire Education budget and considerably more than the Defence budget.

@AdoptionsUk @davidgilmanuk SIXTEEN WEEKS! Lucy Marie Craddock from #Leominster should have got SIXTEEN YEARS. There is never any excuse for #AnimalAbuse & anyone causing this degree of cruelty should be put away for a very long time. Magistrates need to wake up & come down hard on people like Craddock.

Gordon Brown sold 395 tonnes of our gold reserves at the bottom of the market, and - stupidly - told the market in advance. Gold has since risen 1500% and the gold he sold would be worth £40 billion more today. Now Starmer brings him back as his Finance Envoy. A sick joke

@LondonLovesBiz I cannot understand why the ship is allowed to dock anywhere at all until a full assessment of the situation is completed. Even then, and to be safe, the ship should be isolated at sea with supplies dropped by air. The world does not need another pandemic.
