And you think the Type 83 (although we don't use that name anymore) could be based on a Type 26 hull

Why aren’t Baseline 10 SPY-6 flight IIIs also directly outfitted with SEWIP block III ?

@thinkdefence Speaking from a dark blue perspective, Dartmouth only becomes expensive because they keep refusing to heavily invest in the site as people keep refusing to rule out selling it. Becomes an expensive game of whack-a-mole with building problems. Sandhurst makes money anyway iirc.

@Lesserof2weevls Don't get me wrong, I love all the tradition, but I think it is starting to weigh heavy now
English

@thinkdefence Tired of being told military training would be better if it happened on an industrial estate in the north next to a field. I like old buildings and traditions. Shoot me. I loved existing around the buildings at Dartmouth. I hate going around Collingrad’s prison vibe buildings.
English

@thinkdefence No thank you, I like my listed building old boys club with rifles/boats/planes.
Can’t think of anything worse than being forced to do some army-centric course making me an infanteer catering to Pvt. Flip Flop. Nothing to do with my job.

These people are unserious...
We have an economic crisis, weak defence during war in Europe, overflowing prisons, a growing terror threat, corrupt officials working for foreign powers, and an unsustainable immigration situation...
And the possible future PM is talking VAR...

🚨 NEW: Andy Burnham says he would ban VAR if he had the power "You can't celebrate a goal because you think someone, somewhere in an industrial unit is going to rule it out"

While you still can, follow the British Indian Ocean Territory (Chagos Islands) Administration on @BIOTGov
UK Government still hoping to implement crackpot plan that would see defence funds used to pay Mauritius to take sovereignty over the islands. A deal which doesn't help the wronged islanders, needlessly annoys the US and helps China while UK taxpayer is footing the bill.

English

@HoyasFan07 It requires making hard choices about what else not to fund (something the entitled British electorate can’t possibly fathom).
That being said our tax burden is crazy high, really not sure what it currently goes on tho…
English

@Lesserof2weevls these people who just vaguely talk about the need to "strengthen defense" but don't acknowledge the tradeoffs are being insincere

Though if Germany joins GCAP - with its colossal defense war chest - seems that could set things right.
All the more if Canada & Sweden also join (both have lots of $$ to spend on aircraft).

Japan could walk away from #Tempest and that would be a disaster for #UK military aviation. The big problem, despite what @LukePollard and his 1,200 contracts might say, is the Defence Investment Plan is going nowhere fast and #Japan has almost had enough simpleflying.com/why-boeing-f-4…
English

@Lesserof2weevls well yes they need to tell the treasury to take a hike but more importantly they need to find more $$ for defense through reductions to non defense spending

@TomSharpe134 @thinkdefence Exactly. The 1998 SDR pledged the two carriers AND (not 'or') 32 DD/FF; the problem was (a) the budget for the promised force structure not being provided, (b) the budget being hosed up the wall in continental garrisoning in Afghanistan and Iraq.
