In 1218, Genghis Khan wanted to establish a trade alliance with a neighboring ruler who didn't like him. The ruler was Shah Muhammad II of the Khwarazmian empire. Initially, the Shah pretended to agree... But when Genghis sent a caravan of 500 merchants to the Khwarazmian empire, a governor of one of the provinces accused them of being spies, seized their goods and had most of them executed. Big mistake... The Khwarazmian empire was located in Central Asia, it included present-day Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, parts of Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. Trying to smooth things over, Genghis Khan sent three of his envoys to the Sha, one of them a fellow Muslim as the Shah. He asked for the return of the caravan, and for the governor, Inalchuk, who executed the merchants to be punished. Instead, the Shah had two of the envoys shaved and the Muslim envoy beheaded. Then he sent them back to the Khan with the head. In response, Genghis Khan launched a massive invasion of the Khwarezmian Empire with an army of over 100,000 soldiers. And Khwarezmian, which was one of the most powerful and prosperous states in the Islamic world, was destroyed by the invasion. This also marked the beginning of the Mongol conquest of the Islamic States. The Mongols pursued the fleeing Shah Muhammad II until he escaped to an Island in the Caspian sea, where he died shortly afterward, perhaps from shock. And ss for governor Inalchuk, the Khan captured him and poured molten silver through his eyes and ears as payback for his actions. Lesson: Over the course of your life, many times, you will have cause to turn down people or proposals that do not align with your needs. However, it is important to not be insulting, condescending or to gloat over it. A rejection is hard enough, but pouring salt on the wound by being condescending could have devastating consequences. You never know when you might be dealing with a Genghis Khan.

Programming used to put me into FLOW state often. That’s a big part of why I fell in love with it. Late night missions building games, apps, whatever, it felt great. Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi has a great quote on this: “The best moments in our lives… occur when a person’s body or mind is stretched to its limits in a voluntary effort to accomplish something difficult or worthwhile.” AI has kind of nuked the personal challenge part of that. I don’t fall into those same FLOW states nearly as often anymore. It’s a strange position to be in because I’m undeniably more productive, but some of the joy is gone. I still love building software, but now the enjoyment comes more from seeing products come to life and have real-world impact than from the actual process of writing the code. I’ll miss the deep flow states that came from fighting code for hours into the night, but I feel like I do need to find new areas that still offer that same sense of challenge.

Codex team lowkey has it on lock and unlike it was for claude code, it isn't JUST because the model is the best (although it actually is) i like everything they've been adding lately

@TinaDebove Why not just create a plans folder and iteratively create plan files as need with codex, then you can add any comments you want?

Codex team, can we have a "Add comment" UI for each line of the plan so we can easily modify it instead of cramming everything into that tiny text field

@johnpalmer Toyota/Lexus Honda/Acura ChatGPT will mostly remain a chatbot in the minds of consumers. To be a considered a serious tool for work, they need another brand.

Alright Anthropic, OpenAI: I need APIs that give me usage data. Granular. Per user. I need this in the same way its provided by every other company for all of time. What I dont want: "heres a $100,000 line vague line item of token spend".

@alexroan I love OpenAI, but I am sure Mythos will be near as good as 5.5 or even better to a lot of people. 5.4 was already better than 4.6 at wrangling backends so 5.5 vs Opus 4.6 is an unfair comparison.

I ran Claude Code and Codex side by side across a range of tasks, over the past few weeks: - Research - Architecture design - Spec writing - Code refactoring Both maxed out on the top of the range models: - Opus 4.6 max effort & GPT 5.4 xhigh, then - Opus 4.7 max effort & GPT 5.5 xhigh There's one clear leader in my eyes. When I began, I defaulted to Claude Code, but after so many frustrating duels with Opus, I've fully switched over to Codex and GPT 5.5 as my default harness for working on codebases. @AnthropicAI took an early lead, but @OpenAI are fully back in the driver's seat IMO.

@daniel_nguyenx @marclou @levelsio @jrfarr You could ask their support. I got Atlas + Treasury this week. There was zero friction. The LLC took a day or so. Treasury was near instant. Snapped my ID. I am in Nigeria, so Vietnam should work too.

@OfficialLoganK @icanvardar Gemini 3.1 Pro is still the most intelligent model. Better than 4.7 and 5.5 - especially in nuance and common sense. However, it forgets earlier details faster - so can't be a good agent - for now. Those issues are easy to solve for a behemoth like Google.
