@toddsaunders Very true; for years we've been clicking through popup windows of batches and transactions in our production module that bring us zero benefit: we just want to capture labor and inventory per ticket. Claude made a spreadsheet-like app with one row per ticket with a labor field.

I think about this a lot. The thing that made vertical SaaS defensible is the exact thing inference is now commoditizing. Almost every vertical SaaS company runs the same primitive layer: lead gen, CRM, takeoff, estimate, schedule, quote, payments, accounting. But the moat was never the modules... it was the workflows, and the industry specific knowledge "only" the company building the software understood. That knowledge was the wall, and inference tore it down. So I think vertical SaaS is in the third and final phase of its journey: 1.0 - Rigid. A monolith built around one industry's workflow. The workflow was the moat. 2.0 - Agentic. We bolted agents onto the rigid software and called it the future. It was a transition, not a destination. 3.0 - Bespoke. Inference is cheap enough that you don't ship one workflow to everyone. The business builds and customizes their own. The software bends to the business instead of the business bending to the software. Agentic isn't the destination, it's now the standard for how software gets built. Bespoke IS the destination, and we're finally there.

I see it a bit differently. I imagine SendCutSend and OshCut will follow the path of Amazon distribution centers. They'll put them near all major cities that have enough manufacturing volume. They already have the systems quite dialed, it seems like it is more about scaling it across the country. I've yet to meet any small shop owners obsessed over standardized systems and efficiency.
