@MaseDenver Since when has playing good football mattered? Fans tune in to names & popularity. Denver is not a team folks want to watch…even if they’re better than a lot of other teams. And there isn’t a name on the team folks would rather watch…over Mahomes, Allen, etc. of the league.

As ever, making it about one thing: the championship. One data point. Simple-mindedness. It's more than that. It's small-to-mid-market fans knowing they can't get attached to stars because they won't spend their careers there, & that the "smart" call is to trade them to maximize value (see how the Brewers operate). It's the Dodgers abusing the system with massive deferred payments. There has got to be some balance. There are seven teams with projected payrolls that are less than one-third that of the team with payroll No. 3. (fangraphs.com/roster-resourc…) The team with the top payroll is more than 4x higher than any of the bottom six. You shouldn't have a $321-million spread from payroll No. 1 to payroll No. 30. The best thing the NFL has going for it is that while the 32 teams compete against each other on the field, that competition stops when it comes to TV/digital revenue. If baseball could ever figure that out, then tie any salary cap/floor to revenues as the NFL does (and yes, there has to be a floor, talking to YOU, Marlins), the sport would prosper and Pirates fans could savor the prospect of watching Paul Skenes for as long as they got to savor Pops and Clemente.

Heaven forbid the clubs be held publicly accountable. For the Broncos, the areas in which the team fell short have been targeted for improvement, e.g, the team went from a D in food service/nutrition in the 2023 report card to a B+/A- in the one issued last year.
