@LuneKp The Gen Z thing here is not giving a shit. He didn’t “forget.” And I support it!
English

Gen Z’s are so funny cuz what is this 😭😭 he forgot he’s on tv with his mic on #Eurovisión #Eurovision

@Spokoiny Yes I agree, it's very confusing why someone running for NYC mayor would translate campaign literature into Yiddish -- a language that over 100,000 people in NYC speak (6th most common language in the city) -- and not Hebrew, which is outside the top 10. Worth wondering indeed!

@BigYapman75837 @aberasturi_paul In all sincerity what’s your definition of “elite fanbase?” I have been to around 50 PC games and live in Providence. I covered their games for 2 years and wish the program well.
I can think of no metric by which PC has an “elite fanbase” other than loudness on Twitter.
English

@aberasturi_paul If Providence had any other coach other than Kim English they would’ve been a tournament team last season
Providence always has an elite budget, elite fanbase, elite roster, and now has the leadership to match
English

Love the Friars, hate the Friars, you have to acknowledge how well Bryan Hodgson has done with only 1.5 months on the job
This is an ELITE roster, contracted with length, athleticism, height, scoring and defensive prowess
You can hate Providence, but if you’re looking for the Big East to succeed, this has to excite you.

@MattNorlander @CBSSports @CoachChrisMack @ChrisHoltmann Back in my day this was a duel for last-place in the Big East and back a little before my day this was a duel for like 9th place in Conference USA.
English

Just in—DePaul + South Florida have agreed to a series, sources told @CBSSports. First game @ DePaul next season, Nov. 5. USF hosts in '27. Longtime enemies @CoachChrisMack and @ChrisHoltmann will renew their fierce personal rivalry. Keep delivering those home-and-homes, coaches.
English

@GoodmanHoops Amazing how passion just becomes “whining” when you don’t like it.
Out on FO68 for the time being, in on the “whiners” who understand that media isn’t “just the facts” and that the “whining” actually is an exertion of pressure and influence that they have and fans don’t.
English

@BigYapman75837 You have every midwest team (X, Creighton, MU, Depaul, Butler) ranked either lower than Torvik or the same as him.
X: both 5
Creigh: you 6, him 4
MU: you 7, him 3
Depaul: both 8
Butler: both 10
Worth thinking about if you just tilt toward thinking higher of east coast teams.
English

NEWS: Saint Mary's and Saint Louis will begin a home-and-home series on November 20th in Moraga, according to a source.
Return game at Chaifetz Arena in 2027-28.

@NicThomasNBA Strong insights, I also think the University of Michigan had a pretty good basketball team this year.
English

@CJMooreHoops Main takeaway here is like...damn Herb Sendek speaks really poetically.
English

I called around this week to get reaction from coaches on tourney expansion. Most don’t love it, but they’re more passionate about how the field is selected and who is making the decisions for college basketball: nytimes.com/athletic/72450…
English

@brewcity1977 FWIW you and I may agree that in any way making this a conversation about the regular-season of college basketball and not the tourney itself is silly.
One of these (the tourney) makes annual memories, brings families together, cements legends, and the other is for deeper fans.
English

@Lexaphus Matt has been wrong pretty much every step of the way and loves to march out false talking points like the regular season won't matter or the P4 won't take over a sport to maximize revenues.
English

All this griping is ridiculous. Going to 68 got us the VCU & UCLA Final 4 runs. La Salle, Tennessee, & Syracuse S16s.
There are good teams left out. There are good NIT games & this essentially turns Tuesday/Wednesday into the NIT Elite 8.
Bart T🏀rvik@totally_t_bomb
English

@brewcity1977 I guess fair enough. It makes sense given your points here that you think he’s wrong. The viewpoints you’re advocating necessarily lead to a marginalizing of mid-majors even if you don’t self-understand as someone who opposes their role in the tournament.
English

@TomFornelli I spoke with people who run a highly successful bracket-making website and they agree! They’re wrestling with different options and none are good.
English

If we're being honest, my biggest problem with the NCAA Tournament expanding isn't that they don't need more teams, or that those teams will be mediocre high majors.
It's that the new format will completely change the way you fill out a bracket. You either have to include the play-in games, which leaves you with less time to put your bracket together, or you have to wait until all those play-in games are finished before you can fill it out. Both options suck.

English

@TheFieldOf68 @KUHoops @ZagMBB @UNC_Basketball This, from Norlander, is the way to go. Typically I've gravitated more towards you guys at Fo68 than CBS Sports, but I will prioritize following the network that demonstrates it cares about the greatest tournament on the planet enough to fight for it.
cbssports.com/college-basket…
English

@TheFieldOf68 @KUHoops @ZagMBB @UNC_Basketball The mostly neutral tone on expansion, with only a half-allusion to the bad teams that would've made it this year, needs to change immediately. The event that gave you your name is being sacrificed at the altar of the P4/P5, please don't be neutral. It *is* that big of a deal.
English

The Daily!
So how will NCAA tourney expansion look and who would be in? Details.
Plus:
• How high can Stokes elevate @KUHoops?
• @ZagMBB gets an elite big man
• @UNC_Basketball goes for an international big
And much more!
fieldof68.beehiiv.com/p/ncaa-tourney…
English

@TheFieldOf68 Please, given your literal name and the fact that expansion is terrible, have as many tweets about the terribleness of expansion as you do about Tyran Stokes. You have agency and influence, and don't need to treat this as "welp I guess that's reality now" gotta go along with it.
English

@MattNorlander Also the NCAA is bad at poker. They called what they thought was a bluff in the Alston moment, and their takeaway seems to be "fold whenever anybody big and scary threatens us."
English

@MattNorlander This is so on point! The analysts who are instead going "we didn't love this either but guys, the tourney will still be fun" are just ridiculous. Y'all have the ability to influence this. Articles like this push the NCAA to prove you wrong via bids to mid-majors which...great!
English

The most annoying part about the NCAAT expanding is also the biggest reason why it's going to happen: an ever-lurking threat that, if the P4 didn't get their way w/ more bids, they could blow it all up.
But that's BS. It was never going to happen. Column:
cbssports.com/college-basket…
English

@brewcity1977 Lol I wrote we should ignore the P4 power-play with "we're gonna break up with you move" and it appears Matt Norlander has the same thought (makes sense since I pretty much always agree with him on expansion stuff) x.com/MattNorlander/…

English

@brewcity1977 I'm happy to modify to "in all of American sports."
You're right that I'm ignoring the breakaway. The P4 is very strategic and knows that TALKING about a breakaway gives them power. Actually doing it? Nope. Because again...people watch for not-them.
English

@brewcity1977 The seemingly impossible happens once low-majors make the round of 64. Fairleigh Dickinson would've made a field of 64, they made a field of 68, and they would've made a field of 76.
Once there were 0 low-major conferences without a team in the round of 64. Then 2. Now it's 6.
English

@Lexaphus That's not changed here. Fairleigh Dickinson pulled off shock, awe, and the seemingly impossible from a play in game.
English

@HuskyTurned @FriardUp It’s confusing reading this as someone who likes the point you’re making, but is also Jewish and grew up loving 1 gift per night on Hanukkah.
English

@FriardUp @Lexaphus I agree with your points here except this one. Selection Sunday is like Christmas morning to the average fan. They're conditioned to view that day as the day they finally get their bracket.
That experience becomes far more anti-climatic if you can only open one present per day
