🚨 On the recent Alberta/federal pipeline deal, the Mikisew Cree chief slams the announcement for Albertans saying "it’s fantasy". Under current laws, our economy is held hostage with a political veto by a band with 172 people on reserve. Curious about the Mikisew FN funding, I looked on the band website and there’s no financial info there. So I went to the government of Canada‘s open source disclosures database on “Grants and Contributions” where I searched “Mikisew”. There were 375 records with a total “Agreement Value in CAD” of $341,579,231.60 To be certain, I haven’t reviewed it in detail but there are 375 financial transfers from the federal government to the Mikisew FN or some agency affiliated to it. There is some pretty serious money going to a reserve with 172 people on it. At $2 million per person, I hope they don’t have any housing issues in Fort Chipewyan.
