MURDER MOST FOUL: THE SPY WHO TIES LBJ AND THE CIA TO THE ASSASSINATION OF JFK By M.C. Armstrong To his son, E. Howard Hunt described his own role in the killing of JFK as that of a “benchwarmer.” The true masterminds, Hunt claimed, were Bill Harvey, David Morales, Cord Meyer, and Lyndon Johnson. Hunt understood Johnson’s role, as did Morales, who also pinned the key blame on LBJ. But can any of these claims be further corroborated? Was E. Howard Hunt in Dallas on 11/22/63? Can anyone connect any of these plotters directly to Lyndon Johnson? Yes. Not only did E. Howard Hunt eventually confess to being in Dallas, but his son, wife, and a colleague all support that claim. Saint John’s mother, Dorothy, told him that his father was in Dallas. Saint John’s father told him he was in Dallas. Finally, Marita Lorenz, another CIA asset, testified under oath that she was part of the Miami to Dallas convoy that week of November 22, 1963, and that Hunt, known to her as “Eduardo” was there and that his function was to “finance the operation.” This CIA team that Lorenz (former lover of Fidel Castro) witnessed was made up of members from “Operation 40,” the anti-Castro unit so many researchers (like Dick Russell) argue was instrumental in carrying out the JFK plot. But rather than fall into the trap of seeing the CIA and this rogue outfit as the sole participants (or rather than seeing LBJ alone behind the wheel), let's include the entire historical record and its demonstration of overlap between the LBJ social network, the Mafia, and the CIA. LBJ and E. Howard Hunt did not live in silos, and neither did the Mafia or CIA. These slippery entities did not “stay in their lanes.” Any remedial overview of Cold War history demonstrates that the Mafia regularly worked for the CIA and often gave generously to the campaigns of Lyndon Johnson via Mafia “fixer” Jack Halfen, a “bagman” for Carlos Marcello. Halfen was sent to prison in 1964 and pardoned by LBJ in 1966. A fair analysis of the Kennedy assassination plot can emphasize the grievances of one community over the others, but cannot simply ignore the hordes of evidence showing coordination between these worlds. Lee Harvey Oswald’s uncle, Charles “Dutz” Murret, was a friend of Marcello and met Marcello himself. E. Howard Hunt, as a CIA paymaster and plotter, regularly worked with anti-Castro Cubans and the Mafia in Miami. But did Hunt ever work with Lyndon Johnson? He certainly spied on behalf of (or against) Richard Nixon, but did this Watergate “plumber” ever work on behalf of Nixon’s predecessor? Thanks to Hunt’s memoir and the research and reporting of Steve Usdin in @politico in 2018, we now know that Hunt did indeed spy on behalf of Lyndon Johnson in 1964 in LBJ’s race against Barry Goldwater (who also believed Johnson killed Kennedy). Johnson, for some reason, was paranoid about JFK’s friend, Barry Goldwater. LBJ was, in Hunt’s words, “obsessed with obtaining his competitor’s plans.” Eight years before Watergate, Hunt was not spying on behalf of the Republican, Barry Goldwater, but Nixon and Goldwater’s ostensible adversary, Lyndon Johnson. No figure from the Intelligence Community’s history reveals the secret shape of the American uniparty (or permanent war party) quite like E. Howard Hunt, the Watergate burglar, Johnson spy, and confessed “benchwarmer” in the assassination of John F. Kennedy. According to Usdin and former @CIA Director William Colby, the plan to spy for Johnson against Goldwater (one of the godfathers of American libertarianism) “had been the brainchild of Tracy Barnes, head of the CIA’s Domestic Operations Division. According to Colby’s version of events, Barnes proposed it to Chester L. Cooper, a CIA officer working in the Johnson White House on temporary assignment to the National Security Council.” Tracy Barnes can neither confirm nor deny this account of events because Barnes, one of the principal masterminds of the CIA’s successful coup in Guatemala in 1954 and their failed coup in Cuba in 1961, died in 1972 while Lyndon Johnson was still alive. But multiple sources confirm Usdin’s reporting. Thus, the map of the assassination’s social network becomes more and more clear with each passing year. Rather than a study of Lee Harvey Oswald all by himself, the Mafia in a silo, the CIA plotting coups in a vacuum, or LBJ pulling the strings on a series of unwitting puppets, contemporary JFK assassination researchers like @davidtalbot, Peter Dale Scott, and Phillip Nelson instead reveal a more socially dynamic cartography (a deep political structure) where the plot’s ties to the Intelligence Community and the Mafia are acknowledged alongside cords to Johnson and others. Will @RepLuna's JFK Task Force tell this deep political truth to the American people this month or will the American people be asked to swallow another official state fiction? @jeffersonmorley @TheOliverStone @TexasMonthly @timfattig @AndyLambourne @TuckerCarlson @DNIGabbard @CovertActionMag @Lionessinus @TruthSerum2016 @RogerJStoneJr @JBKSchlossberg @FourDiedTrying @SolvingJfk @realTylerNixon @TomCruise @MaryHaverstick @realDonaldTrump @jamestalarico @TSBD1963 @RepNancyMace @loanly_hipster @joerogan @JFKChokeholds #JFK #America250

Murder Most Foul: Sandy Shapiro And The Fact Pattern of Captured Counsel In The Assassinations Of The 1960s By M.C. Armstrong I interviewed Barr McClellan, Lyndon Johnson’s lawyer, in June of 2024. McClellan, who indicts Johnson as a participant in the plot to kill JFK, has appeared on the History Channel and @cspan to talk about his law firm’s role in the plot to kill Kennedy. McClellan situates that firm (Clark, Thomas, and Winters), at the center of the conspiracy. At the end of our two-hour conversation, McClellan revealed to me an important new disclosure in the case, a name that I had never encountered in the literature of the JFK assassination: Sander “Sandy” Shapiro. “The big one, I guess, was Sandy Shapiro,” McClellan told me. “When he [Shapiro] said, well, we can’t let Barr know about these things.” Who was Sandy Shapiro and why was Shapiro the “big one?” Sandy Shapiro worked at Clark, Thomas, and Winters, a firm that would later become known as Clark, Thomas, Winters, and Shapiro. Shapiro was the first tax attorney in the history of Austin, Texas, and he worked not only for the firm that represented Lyndon Johnson, but also the firm that defended Joe Tonahill. Shapiro defended Tonahill. Who was Joe Tonahill? Tonahill was a three-hundred-pound wrestler whose father-in-law was a Texas congressman responsible for blocking the legislation of a young JFK in the 1950s. Tonahill was also Jack Ruby’s defense attorney in Ruby’s trial for the murder of Lee Harvey Oswald. Tonahill, who himself believed the JFK assassination was a function of conspiracy (and was the man who arranged for the journalist Dorothy Kilgallen to meet with Ruby just before both Ruby and Kilgallen died premature deaths), died in 2001. However, before his death, Tonahill told journalist Seth Kantor that “Ruby could have been used” and that he believed the Dallas “police had to be in on it” in reference to the murder of Oswald. Sandy Shapiro, who died on February 12, 2024, just months before my conversation with McClellan, defended Tonahill in a July 1970 tax fraud case (United States of America vs. Tonahill) that was first launched in 1962, the year before the JFK assassination, which raises two questions: How did Lyndon Johnson’s firm come to defend this compromised man who represented Oswald’s killer, and does this instance of compromised counsel represent a fact pattern in the history of the assassinations of the 1960s? The surest way to control an investigation is to control the investigators, i.e. the lawyers. Barr McClellan doesn’t have all the answers when it comes to questions about LBJ, the CIA, and Israel, but a pattern emerges when one studies the lawyers in the case. A fact-pattern appears when one engages the insider accounts and the primary documents that map the story of the JFK assassination and the killings that followed, namely those of JFK’s brother, Robert F. Kennedy, and the civil rights leader, Martin Luther King, Jr. Specifically, the account of John Curington, attorney for H.L. Hunt, is quite illuminating. According to Curington, the defense teams of James Earl Ray (Martin Luther King, Jr.’s alleged assassin) and Sirhan Sirhan (Robert F. Kennedy’s ostensible killer) demonstrate a pattern of compromise and capture during this exigent moment in American history, a pattern that ties the killings to the social network of Lyndon Johnson. Like Percy Foreman defending Ray and Grant Cooper defending Sirhan, Tonahill’s defense of Ruby was notoriously shoddy and corrupt. Curington sees the hand of Hunt in this pattern of captured counsel, and Hunt was one of President Johnson’s closest allies. “At Mr. Hunt’s instruction,” Curington wrote of the time shortly after the King assassination, “I traveled to call on Percy Foreman with a briefcase and laid it on the desk in front of him. ‘I have one hundred and twenty-five thousand reasons why James Earl Ray should plead guilty to killing Martin Luther King,’ I said.” Curington, who in his memoir leaves out the fact that Foreman also briefly defended Jack Ruby (alongside Tonahill and Melvin Belli), describes H.L. Hunt commanding him—Curington—to locate another intermediary (Mark Deering) to make a similar payoff “four to six weeks after the assassination” of RFK in California. Was Hunt, the richest man in America in 1963 and the largest supporter for the John Birch Society and the fascist paramilitary force known as The Minutemen, also the paymaster for the defense of Jack Ruby and Joe Tonahill? Was Hunt a key proxy for Lyndon Johnson in his efforts to defeat his political opponents if, by defeat, one means murder? Listen to the voice of Jack Ruby from the Warren Report: “I don’t think I will get a fair representation with my counsel, Joe Tonahill. I don’t think so. I would like to request that I go to Washington and take all the tests that I have to take. It is very important.” Jack Ruby, who repeatedly pinned the JFK assassination on Lyndon Johnson in both letters and on video, is begging Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren to transport him to Washington, D.C. so he—Ruby—can take a lie detector test and tell the truth far away from the threats native to Lyndon Johnson’s home state, Texas. Ruby’s pleas, however, fell on deaf ears. The assassin of JFK’s ostensible killer never traveled to D.C. Ruby died in 1967, right after getting his initial conviction overturned on appeal, but in a 1966 letter, Ruby wrote, “there is only one kind of people that would do such a thing, that would have to be the nazi’s[sic], and that is who is in power in this country right now.” In 1966, the president of the United States, Lyndon Johnson was a good friend of neo-Nazi paymaster H.L. Hunt. They were such good friends that Hunt shared Johnson’s box at the 1960 Democratic National Convention where Johnson was defeated in his bid for the presidency by John F. Kennedy. The binary mind has a hard time reckoning with the notion of a neo-Nazi Democrat who passes civil rights legislation and loathes his own party more than “the opposition,” or the idea that one who is hired to defend a defendant might be working against that very individual for a larger entity. More research is needed in this area of Ruby, his compromised defense, and LBJ’s neo-Nazi social network as it branches out into the latter half of the 1960s. But in a JFK story and Cold War history where artificial division, suppression, and binary thinking has been the modus operandi for years, Sandy Shapiro’s story reveals yet another connection between the world of Lyndon Johnson and the world of the JFK assassination conspiracy. Sandy Shapiro served a unique function as counsel for Joe Tonahill. While working for the legal team of Lyndon Johnson at a moment in history when Barr McClellan was still at the firm and President Johnson was still alive, Shapiro defended Tonahill and, by doing so, Shapiro gained access to Tonahill’s thoughts and records, the primary documents that mapped his life. Like McClellan himself, Shapiro entered into a relationship of attorney-client privilege that, generally, seals the lips of counsel until the concerned parties go to the grave. Sandy Shapiro, Grant Cooper, Percy Foreman, Jack Ruby, Joe Tonahill, James Earl Ray, Lee Harvey Oswald, John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Lyndon Johnson have now all gone to the grave. But Barr McClellan lives. @FourDiedTrying @RepLuna @RogerJStoneJr @TheOliverStone @jeffersonmorley @TruthSerum2016 @TuckerCarlson @Lionessinus @_JessConnell @SolvingJfk @JFKChokeholds @Andria816 @CovertActionMag @joerogan @timfattig @mona2thebeach @TSBD1963 #JFK

MURDER MOST FOUL: THE MYSTERY OF THE LIBERTY By M.C. Armstrong How did America get so lost? I recently read an article by Jeremy Kuzmarov titled, “State of Israel and Lyndon Johnson Deliberately Murdered 34 American Sailors in 1967, Fabricated Massive Cover-up Still in Effect After 55 Years.” As Kuzmarov details, “On June 8, 1967, Israeli air and naval forces—with covered over insignia—fired rockets, torpedoes and napalm on a US spy ship, the USS Liberty, in the Mediterranean Sea, killing 34 Americans and injuring 174 more. A secret congressional hearing revealed that two of the pilots were Americans—ex Navy fliers.” Studying the JFK assassination these past decades has immersed me in the world of amateur and professional historians who are obsessed with the crimes of Lyndon Johnson and the way LBJ’s foreign policy revealed the DNA of contemporary America’s madness. Kuzmarov’s article, published in @CovertActionMag, drew heavily from primary documents. He demonstrated, through recently released @CIA files, that Israeli fighters, under instructions from Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Dayan, knew they were attacking their ally on June 8 and that our National Security Agency, at that time a secret entity, was actively monitoring the attacks with agency aircraft. Furthermore, the historical record revealed that neighboring carriers witnessed the attack on the Liberty and sought to defend their American brothers but were commanded by none other Robert McNamara and Lyndon Johnson to recall all defensive aircraft. Why did nobody tell me about this treacherous act at @JMU when I was studying history? One of the survivors of the USS Liberty (a passionate subculture that still meets yearly) recalled an explosive detail. Ernest Gallo, a “28-year CIA veteran specializing in electronics,” said that when an American Admiral named Lawrence Geis challenged McNamara’s orders, “President Johnson came on the line and stated, ‘I don’t care if the ship sinks; I won’t have my ally embarrassed.’” Why were documents pertinent to this story concealed for so long? Why were newspapers at the time “forbidden from photographing the battered” Liberty and why were American sailors “ordered not to talk to reporters?” Why was LBJ putting Israel above his own country? Why was Johnson more concerned about embarrassing Israel than saving American lives and what does that have to do with the Kennedy assassination? Kuzmarov and others insistently make the argument that the Israeli attack on America was a premeditated and “botched ‘false-flag’ operation” designed to draw America into a proxy war with the Soviet Union via Egypt. In other words, Lyndon Johnson, in 1967, wanted what folks like George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, @LindseyGrahamSC, and @realDonaldTrump continued to want throughout the twenty-first century: regime change wars in the Middle East to shift the dynamics of power between America and Russia. Russia supported Egypt’s nationalist leader, Gamal Abdel Nasser, and so had JFK. Under Lyndon Johnson, not only did the JFK policy of withdrawal from Vietnam flip, but so did the support for Nasser’s Egypt and Kennedy’s stance against Israel’s desire to acquire nuclear weapons. Did JFK's conciliatory foreign policy position have anything to do with his murder? Did the murder of the USS Liberty sailors serve as a precedent for the argument that Johnson was capable of treacherously conspiring to kill another American—John F. Kennedy? There was an entire subculture of JFK assassination researchers who agreed with me that LBJ played a decisive part in the murder of Kennedy. But some believed Israel was the true mastermind. They pointed to the 12/3/63 Secret Service file that showed a Cuban exile named Homer Echevarria claiming to an ATF informant named Thomas Mosley that “our new backers are Jews.” These “Israel did it” scholars believed LBJ was the quarterback but Israel was the coach. But I don’t see the primary documents or eyewitness accounts that I find in support of the LBJ/CIA hypothesis. What I do see, however, is a community of researchers beginning to foreground a worldview that—regardless of guilt or innocence—demonstrates a massive elephant in the room of American history. What happens when one widens one’s lens to the world setting, that view that eschews narrow tribalism and allows every voice from around the world to join in the story? What does the Kennedy assassination tell us about our relationship with Southeast Asia and the Middle East? How did Kennedy’s murder change our policies in Vietnam, Cambodia, Ukraine, France, India, Indonesia, China, Central America, Israel, Congo, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and Egypt? Was America captured by Israel? Is our foreign policy and our media beholden to Zionist interests like AIPAC? If so, how do we go about declaring our independence here in the year of #America250? @timfattig @Andria816 @TheOliverStone @TruthSerum2016 @RogerJStoneJr @RepLuna @RoKhanna @StephenKing @usslibertyvets @BeschlossDC @timgproject @SolvingJfk @jeffersonmorley @FourDiedTrying @TuckerCarlson @ggreenwald @JFKChokeholds @KenBurns #JFK

Dear @realDonaldTrump, Good morning. I hope you listened to @joekent16jan19 last night. Kent is not a traitor. He's a profile in courage. And he's telling you the truth: You're surrounded by people who aren't telling you the truth. What is the truth? The occupation of Iran will be a disaster that will bring our nation to its knees, kill countless innocent civilians, and hand world domination to China. At the end of his conversation with @TuckerCarlson last night, Kent made a recommendation: He argued for a change in our diplomatic corps. I agree with him. Your current Secretary of State has a neoconservative and imperialist vision of the world that has a proven track record of failure. Rubio needs to go. We need the soldier's point of view guiding our foreign policy from here on out. Tulsi Gabbard has proven her loyalty. Purge the neocon, Mr. President. Promote the peacemaker. Make Tulsi Gabbard our Secretary of State. End the war. #Iran

MURDER MOST FOUL: IRAN AND COUP NUMBER TWO By M.C. Armstrong In 2023, just before Jimmy Carter died, Ben Barnes made a confession to the New York Times. In the summer of 1980, Barnes, the former lieutenant governor of Texas and the protégé of John Connally who was himself the protégé of Lyndon Johnson, ran an errand for Connally. This was the heart of the Iran hostage crisis. According to @peterbakernyt, Barnes and Connally helped sabotage Jimmy Carter’s bid for re-election in 1980 by treating the fifty-two remaining American hostages like political pawns. Connally took Barnes “to one Middle Eastern capital after another that summer, meeting with a host of regional leaders to deliver a blunt message to be passed on to Iran: Don’t release the hostages before the election. Mr. Reagan will win and give you a better deal.” The point man in the Reagan campaign for this “October surprise” operation was William Casey, the figure Reagan would eventually appoint to lead the @CIA. “History needs to know this happened,” Barnes told Baker. Just before Jimmy Carter died, the October surprise conspiracy theory became conspiracy fact. Lyndon Johnson’s social network, working together as Reagan Republicans with the future director of the CIA, performed yet another treasonous coup, seventeen years after the assassination of John F. Kennedy. #JFK #LBJ #CIA #Iran

MURDER MOST FOUL: THE STRANGE CASE OF JAY BERT PECK By M.C. Armstrong Dear @NBCNews, On July 4, 1969, Jay Bert Peck was shot in his home at 1202 Melrose Street, Garland, Texas. The following day, Peck died. Some say it was a murder. Some say it was a “Texas suicide.” Who was Jay Bert Peck? According to metadata, you featured this mysterious Texan on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson on June 7, 1966. The guests that night were ventriloquist Shari Lewis, comedian Norm Crosby, and “J. Bert Peck” (billed as “the LBJ double”). Peck, according to the recently discovered data, discussed his experiences as our commander-in-chief’s "stand-in." But this nostalgic American can’t seem to find the footage. Can you help, NBC? You see, I like to go back into the past during these forever wars. Whenever America starts bombing another country (like Iraq, Syria, Libya, or Iran), I find myself retreating into “better days.” Now am I aware that Lyndon Baines Johnson bombed more poor people than almost anyone? Yes, but still. I’m trying to forget that and remember “The Great Society.” Watching Johnny flirt with Tanya Roberts, dodge Jim Garrison (see below), or josh with Richard Pryor just makes me feel so good. Can you help me feel good, @nbc, with a little #America250 media narcotic? I'm trying to get excited about my country, NBC, but I need some help. I just need to see LBJ’s body double hamming it up with Johnny Carson during the escalation of the Vietnam War. Can you (or anyone else out there) help me find this precious archival footage? Now, for other pop culture nuts like me, here’s a final tidbit: Shortly after the assassinations of Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr. (those damn commie rabble rousers), Jay Bert Peck, aka J. Bert Peck, starred in a 1968 movie called “The Wrecking Crew.” According to metadata, Peck appeared in two scenes as Lyndon Johnson in the first cut of the flick. In one of the scenes, LBJ was being told about some stolen gold. You can find reporting on this movie in Time and Newsweek back in '68, but curiously, these particular scenes were deleted in “the final cut” and in the credits, Jay Bert Peck is listed as “J.B. Pick.” So strange the way Big Brother goes back into our history and combs out certain details. You wouldn’t ever do that, would you, NBC? Help me find the footage? Got to ask @RogerJStoneJr about Nixon telling him who killed JFK, why he believes there's a direct line from the Bay of Pigs to JFK to Watergate to Butler, and knowing folks like G Gordon Liddy

@medeabenjamin We have brutalized our veterans with these forever wars, @realDonaldTrump. You have a unique opportunity to be the first president of this century to listen to our people before the war spirals out of control. Put our troops above Netanyahu's hate. End this war. #Iran

Former Marine Sgt. Brian McGuinness stood up in Congress to say what millions of Americans are thinking: We don’t want to fight a war with Iran for Israel. Security dragged him out and broke his arm. Veterans are speaking out. The American people don’t want this war.

Thank you for your courage, Francesca. Netanyahu has been America's president for close to forty years now. We don't know how to get rid of him. The best first step I see is daring our Congress to do their job for once and cut the purse strings on this insane war. @RoKhanna #NoWarWithIran x.com/RepThomasMassi…

We warned you: the wholesale destruction of Gaza was not an exception, it was a blueprint to crush anyone who opposes the plutocratic imperialism embodied by US/Israel and their global allies. Act now: defend int'l law from lawlessness, before the rupture becomes irreversible.
