Being a firearms officer in London is one of the world's toughest jobs. Officers - volunteers - know the responsibility/accountability that comes with it and deserve our support. Ill-informed commentary from those in positions of power following any tragic incident is unwarranted

@MPFed Interested to know your thoughts and standing if the “brave” officer is found to be guilty. Remember a criminal gross misconduct notice was issued. Clearly there are facts in play the public dont know yet. Best to wait for the investigation and remain impartial

The Metropolitan Police Federation is supporting a brave firearms colleague involved in a recent incident in South London - and we are also supporting their family. Our thoughts are with all affected. The Federation will be making no further comment at this time.

@MikeAyriss @MPFed @NormanBrennan What about the criminal gross mis conduct notices? It reeks to me like an officer making a fatal misjudgment and the police distancing themselves of it. Time will tell. But i hope people do make an example of the officer if they’re found guilty.

@MPFed @NormanBrennan I am dismayed at those who have chosen seemingly to judge whilst not in possession of the full facts & pre-empting the outcome of an enquiry. Officers make split second decisions, not afforded the luxury of time that the enquiry will have. Suspension smacks of appeasement.

Chris Kaba was 24 years old. He was about to become a father. But last week he was pulled over by police officers, shot and killed. He was unarmed. This evening I attended a vigil to remember Chris, demanding justice for him and his family.

When I’ve had pursuits end in residential areas lights come on in seconds with people watching from bedrooms. Also I imagine some people won’t want the world to know they have witnessed it.

So a witness who isn’t wanting to come forward isn’t credible either. You can’t shout from the sidelines without identity but claim credibility.

As the resident didn’t want to be named their identity isn’t known to the public. If they give a statement to the IOPC then I imagine they’ll be called to any investigation.
