@BreeSolstad @Immaculata_City @blindeypk When I first reverted back to my faith, a really good priest offered me a piece of advice, "you will have this tremendous zeal to change everything ,call out things etc but you will be disappointed with such an attitude. Have patience, trust in the lord and pray always"

This is more modernist slop. The power of multiplying a handful of fish and loaves in order to feed thousands is far greater than the power of sharing with others. This is not controversial. Stop degrading the almighty Lord’s divine power and trying to make a spiritual guru.
Classical Theist ✠@ClassicalTheis

The Pope never rejected the miraculous nature of the feeding of the 5,000 but you know what? It actually is a far greater display of divine power for the grace of God to draw supernatural charity from the obediential potency of the soul than it is to multiply bread or fish

@EricRSammons In practice, insofar as the Holy See does not consider further documents on this point necessary, (at least) one of the so-called principia reflexa (see the manuals of moral theology) would certainly apply here: "In dubio standum est pro valore actus" (the decree already issued).

I think there can be other factors as well depending where you are. In South America where liberation theology hollowed out Catholicism, I believe that led people to leave the Church for Protestantism. Likewise in those places where many "Catholics" practice syncretism and santeria, I have the impression that for many, converting to Protestantism was actually a conversion away from demonic practices, since Protestants there typically do not engage in syncretism.

🇫🇷 11 lipca tradycyjni benedyktyni z opactwa z Le Barroux przejmują opactwo Notre-Dame de Bellefontaine w Andegawenii. Do klasztoru przybylo 12 mnichów z Prowansji, którzy przywracają w nim życie monastyczne.

St. Augustine says the prayers of the Mass are spoken aloud for the benefit of the people hearing them, not for God's sake: "There's no need for speech when we're praying, not for words spoken aloud, I mean - except perhaps as priests speak, to signify what is in their own mind, not so that God hears them, but so that other people do. And so that the act of commemoration, by their experiencing it together, lifts them up toward God." (The Teacher) In today's liturgy wars, this view is often written off by trads as "anthropocentric"...

@CatholicPods @carbo_al You know what, our priests actually recommend to follow the mass using the missal even though the mass is in vernacular (syro malabar ) I actually benefited a lot through this method, so does all those who attend the latin mass with a missal.

I find this unsatisfying bc "faith comes by hearing." The liturgy is meant to be experienced immediately, in the moment, not with the detachment, control, and abstraction from one's surroundings that happens when you are reading. That said, I don't feel I can say that the Church was simply wrong for all the centuries of having the Mass in Latin. I recognize the good aspects of it and everything that was lost when it was dropped. I'm not sure how to judge all the tradeoffs.

@CatholicPods Yea and they talk about the priest facing God vs facing the people, as if the Eucharist is less God than the geographic direction east 😂

This argument is fallacious, as moral obligation is always proportional to understanding, not just knowledge: thus, after the realization of August and unique mystical, true, real and substantial presence, the MBS was reserved to the hands of priests alone.
Ojike Uzoma@Xtopher_Uzo

From 33AD till 590AD, Catholics were receiving the Holy Eucharists on their hands. Jesus did not change. From Approx 590AD, church demanded everyone to start receiving Him directly on the tongue for deeper reverence. Jesus did not change. If the church decides to dualize the process (Tongue and hand) today, Jesus still will not change. I'm team Tongue tho.

Whoever prayed for me, has been praying for me, it worked! My mom apologized, multiple times in fact, over the phone in depth and once in text. I forgive my mom. I’m stunned by how well the conversation went. 💗 I also had good conversations with my grandfather and Uncle, both of whom I’ve lived with for more consecutive time than I have with my bio dad- and they are both supportive of my moving closer to my boyfriend. My Dad however, is not supportive, he refused to meet my boyfriend when my bf visited me, he would not talk with him at all in person. When I told my Uncle this and more details about how my dad is treating my bf, he said (as best as I can remember it) “That's disappointing. Especially because he’s not doing anything wrong. He’s doing something very nice actually.” He might be a gay man living in California who isn’t a practicing Catholic, but I’m going to try to not let it bother me that he is supportive when my revert Catholic dad is not. ❤️‍🔥 This division has caused me stress and I feel bad my dad who I love so much doesn’t seem to like my bf rn. Prayers that my dad start to like and talk with my bf would be so appreciated. As I’m assured now, if it’s Gods Will, they’ll work. Deo Gratias. ♱

My mom hasn't replied to me at all or apologized to me, and I think none of my family will change anytime soon. So please pray for me to be able to forgive her, not harbor hatred towards her & make confessions with true & perfect contrition, and not be angry anymore. I want to experience less sadness and anxiety when thinking about and interacting with my family. But perhaps it is inevitable with them. I will call my mom probably if she doesn’t respond, but i doubt that will go well. Maybe pray it does go well.
