Lowell Observatory is now home to a Moon Tree! 🌳🌕 Earlier this week we celebrated its upcoming planting in a ceremony honoring 65 years of American spaceflight. Thank you to Senator Kelly, Rosemary Roosa, and everyone who helped make this event truly unforgettable!

The Geminids are officially active. This year’s conditions are almost perfect, with the Moon out of the way and bright meteors expected all week. The shower runs through the 17, with peak night coming up. Stay tuned for when and how to catch the best show in the sky.

The New Moon arrives tomorrow, bringing darker skies and ideal conditions for deep-sky viewing. Andromeda, the Pleiades, and the Hyades are all visible this week. If you’ve never seen the Milky Way with your own eyes, this is your sign to visit.
