APPARENTLY “establishment” now means anyone with money or influence. No. The establishment is the political, media and institutional class that defends the status quo. Nigel Farage has spent his whole entire political career fighting that consensus, from Brexit to immigration. You can call him wealthy, influential or even elite. BUT calling him establishment is quite frankly not correct.

Right. So if Nigel Farage were to put a bin on his head, that would, by definition, mean he was no longer a member of the establishment. That seems to be Matthew’s logic here.
