⚠️The world's largest energy buyers are heavily exposed to the Gulf crisis: China is the largest energy importer globally at $413 BILLION in 2024, followed by the US at $233 billion, India at $180 billion, South Korea at $144 billion, and Japan at $139 billion. The most vulnerable are Asia's top 3 importers after China. Japan sources 57% of its energy from the Gulf, South Korea 55%, and India 50%. China relies on the Gulf for 35%, while the US just 10%. Singapore draws 27% from the region, while among European buyers, France is at 18%, the UK 11%, and the Netherlands and Germany are the least dependent at 10% and 7%, respectively. Japan, South Korea, and India collectively import over $460 billion in energy annually, with more than half Gulf-sourced, making them the front line of the Hormuz crisis.

Let’s think critically about this for a moment. The guy who nominated him unceremoniously dropped him the moment he found out Jared was a former democrat, and then Isaacman had to claw his way back into the position. The same guy who nominated him also has a habit of firing his staff who are even slightly disloyal to him. (And sometimes loyalty doesn’t even matter if they don’t make him look good) Given that, and given that we know Isaacman is at least generally enthusiastic about our space program, it would probably be wiser to conclude that he’s playing politics rather than actually agreeing with the budget that the president has set.

Huckabee tries to paint Qatar as anti-Christian: "There are almost NO Christians in Qatar." Tucker corrects him: "There are actually more Christians living in Qatar than in Israel. Fact." Huckabee delivered the lie. Tucker buried it.

NEW: US President Donald Trump appears to have extended the deadline for Iran to stop attacking shipping through the Strait of Hormuz to 8:00 PM ET on April 7 amid discussions with Iranian officials. Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei said on April 5 that Iran would continue attacking shipping through the Strait, however. More Key Takeaways: US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that US forces on April 4 completed the rescue of both F-15E crewmembers after Iran shot down their aircraft on April 2 during a combat mission. US forces successfully established a makeshift airstrip very close to a major Iranian city, successfully extracted all of its personnel during the rescue operation, and the combined force has continued to strike targets in Iran. The combined force has continued to strike operational components of the program even as it targets production facilities for engines, guidance systems, and other components and research and development facilities, including a missile launcher reportedly for a Haj Qassem missile, which has a maximum range of 1,400 km. The IDF is continuing to target Iranian tunnel entrances to prevent Iranian forces from using tunnels to conceal missile sites. Iran has slightly altered its strike packages targeting Gulf states to include more cruise missiles, but it is unclear whether this represents experimentation with new tactics, an effort to manage the remaining missile reserves, or something else. Hezbollah published footage on April 4 and 5 that Hezbollah claimed shows first-person view (FPV) drone attacks conducted on March 25 against an Israeli vehicle and two Israeli Merkava tanks in southern Lebanon. Hezbollah claimed to have launched anti-ship cruise missiles at an Israeli warship located 68 nautical miles off the coast of Lebanon on April 5 for the first time since the start of the war. The IDF estimated that Hezbollah can maintain a fire rate of 200 rockets and drone launches per day at Israel for an additional five months. Hezbollah rocket and drone attacks do not appear to be achieving the desired effect of altering Israel’s decision-making in conducting airstrikes against Iran, however. Iranian-backed Iraqi militias are attempting to blame Kuwait for attacks on Iraqi oil infrastructure, likely to obfuscate responsibility for these attacks to a domestic Iraqi audience. (1/2)

🚨🚨BREAKING🚨🚨 Donald Trump’s team is frantically deleting his old tweets — especially the ones where he viciously attacked President Obama’s Iran policies — in a blatant attempt to rewrite history and hide his past hypocrisy.

Powerful example of the Escalation Trap in action. As I said on my substack pre-Feb 28 bombing, the predictable failure to change Iran’s regime would lead to major pressure for “limited” ground ops despite promises that would never happen. See the substack to stay ahead

Journalists need to quote this verbatim. Don’t sanewash it. Make white evangelicals and conservative Catholics have to hear what the person they voted for is saying on their behalf.

What “Regime Change” Really Looks Like in Iran President Donald Trump and members of his administration have suggested that what happened in Iran amounts to “regime change.” Let’s break down the reality: 1. Leadership did not collapse it was replaced. Khamenei was already old and reportedly ill. Instead of a natural transition, he was killed, and the regime immediately reframed him as a martyr. Power didn’t disappear it was reinforced. 2. The new leadership is more radical. The old Khamenei has been replaced by a younger figure who is far more hardline, more aggressive, and more dangerous in both policy and action. 3. Repression has intensified dramatically. Under the previous leadership, executions of opposition members reportedly occurred every two weeks. Now, they are described as happening every single morning at 5 a.m. a shift from periodic brutality to systematic terror. 4. Power has become more opaque and unpredictable. The previous Khamenei governed visibly and cautiously. The new leadership operates from hiding making it more extreme, less accountable, and far more dangerous. 5. Protesters are worse off than before. Donald Trump was expected by some to support Iranian protesters. Instead, they now face daily repression, increased executions, and greater risks than ever. 6. Economic pressure is crushing the population. The worsening economic crisis is hitting low-income Iranians the hardest including those most likely to protest making resistance even more difficult. 7. Military strikes did not dismantle the regime. The U.S. and Israel destroyed infrastructure, but from the perspective of ordinary Iranians, the system of power remains intact just more radical. 8. The regime’s enforcement capacity is still massive. Roughly 2,000 IRGC members may have been killed, but with Basij forces included, nearly one million regime-aligned personnel remain capable of suppressing any uprising. 9. “Regime change” has meant deeper instability not freedom. For protesters, conditions are now harsher, risks are higher, and hope is fading faster than before. Conclusion: If this is what is being called “regime change,” then in reality, it has produced a more extreme, more repressive, and more dangerous system than the one it replaced. The Hormuz Letter
The Hormuz Letter@HormuzLetter·
BREAKING: Oman and Iran held deputy foreign minister-level talks Saturday to discuss “smooth passage” through the Strait of Hormuz, per the Omani Foreign Ministry. This formalizes Iran’s April 2 push for a joint Iran-Oman “protocol” to oversee Hormuz transit. Araghchi said last week the future of Hormuz “rests with Iran and Oman.” At the same time, UK maritime shipping journal Lloyd’s List is tracking three Omani vessels, two oil supertankers and an LNG carrier, transiting the Strait today outside Iran’s approved corridor, sailing unusually close to the Omani coast. Oman is at the negotiating table and simultaneously sending its own ships around Iran’s control zone. That is what hedging looks like.
