The ones in the Atlantic and eastern Pacific (the Western Hemisphere) are called hurricanes. Those born in the South Pacific and Indian Ocean are known as cyclones.

@2XtreemRob @ABC They are, actually. Although the two storms systems are the exact same type. The titles are strictly geographical. Hurricanes form in the North Atlantic and the eastern and central North Pacific oceans, while typhoons occur in the northwest Pacific Ocean.
