Thrilled to see @ASCO focusing on #CommunityOncology - where most of our cancer patients get treated today! This emphasis by @ASCOPres will ensure that our patients can continue to get the best care close to home + help bridge the gap between academia & community! #OncTwitter

Thank you @ASCO leadership & staff for inviting me to share my presidential theme & fun facts about myself, as well as the 2 decades-long perspective of a community doc serving rural communities. Such a fun day at HQ—I’m so excited for the year ahead!

Three large randomized trials covering different approaches for metastatic colorectal cancer at various levels of disease burden presented today at #ASCO24 moderated by @UMichRadOnc Associate Professor Dr. Kyle Cuneo and @UHhospitals medical oncologist Dr. Madison Conces @MadisonConces #CRCSM 1️⃣ COLLISION trial results showing non-inferiority of thermal ablation vs resection for small liver mets 2️⃣ TRANSMET trial results showing a potential for extended survival vs palliative chemo for pts w unresectable colorectal liver mets 3️⃣ ORCHESTRA trial results showing no benefit to local therapy (surgery or RT) in pts w disseminated colorectal mets My takes: ✅ Patient selection is key ✅ Biology ultimately drives outcomes (if dz is already disseminated, more therapy is not necessarily better) ✅ Optimal treatment techniques and potential subgroups that may benefit are still being investigated

Great talk by @petitprez_f on predictive IO biomarkers in #sarcoma at #ASCO24 ❌TMB is impractical ❌MMRd is impractical ⁉️PD-L1 needs to be validated ❗️Histotype matters, but only part of the story ‼️Tumor microenviroment is the future: TLS, SICs, Treg cells

Fantastic discussion with social media panel @fumikochino @lungoncdoc @OncBrothers So much to unpack. A few key takeaways: ➡️ find your purpose to join social media (can change w time) ➡️ know your institutional policies for social media ➡️ be yourself

What can mentees do to help mentors & sponsors be more effective? 🔹Be specific with your asks. 🔹Share your career goals. 🔹Let them know when something worked or was helpful. 🔹Give feedback when something is not working or could be done differently. #SheLeadsHealthcare
