I think a radar/spider web version of a project with this much detail (40 total skills) could’ve ended up a little bombarding. I could create those graphics maybe with just the overall categories (Scoring/Shooting, Defense, etc.). Sometimes radar/spider webs merge the skills. Wanted to be a little more in-depth with each one. Great suggestion though! I’ll consider it in the future

@anglefantasybb Then why did Franz only lose one spot? Bc you project him to be back next season fully healthy? Which means your Dynasty Rankings factor in production for the next season heavily, more than, say, production over a 5 year span?

@MFHFB_ We'll move down the rankings if they get injured bc of the opportunity cost. Same goes for a player who is recovering from injury. I don't think it makes sense to not factor in a total lost season for an inj player when evaluating value. Health = they return to the norm. -Braxton

BASKETBALL AI. EVERY PLAYER TRACKED. EVERY JERSEY NUMBER READ. EVERY SHOT CLASSIFIED. FROM A SINGLE CAMERA. No sensors. No wearables. No multi-million dollar tracking setup. Just video and a stack of open-source models. Here's what the pipeline does. RF-DETR detects every player and jersey number on the court. Frame by frame. Real time. A state-of-the-art object detection model fine-tuned specifically for basketball. SAM2 takes over for tracking. Pixel-level segmentation that follows each player across the entire possession. Stable. Consistent. Even through occlusions and contact. But detection and tracking aren't enough. You need to know WHO is who. SigLIP encodes each player's visual appearance. UMAP reduces the dimensionality. K-means clusters jersey colors. Two teams separated automatically - no manual labels, no predefined palettes. Then the hard part. Jersey numbers are tiny. Blurred. Partially hidden. A fine-tuned SmolVLM2 - a vision-language model - reads them anyway. Blurred digits that a human would squint at. The model reads them cold. Now every player has an identity. A team. A number. A position on every frame. Homography maps the broadcast camera to a top-down court view. Real coordinates. Real distances. Every player plotted on a precise tactical map, updating in real time. The system even classifies shot outcomes. Made or missed. Detected from video alone. Months of engineering compressed into one pipeline. RF-DETR for detection. SAM2 for tracking. SigLIP + UMAP + K-means for team assignment. SmolVLM2 for number recognition. Homography for court mapping. Shot classification for game events. All open source. All Python. All documented.
