The IFRC-DREF is one of the most localized pooled funds in the humanitarian sector, a trusted, transparent way to support local actors. Grateful to the members of the DREF council who met earlier today. Their commitment & support are key in further expanding @IFRC_DREF’s reach.
This week, 19 patients and their relatives were medically evacuated from Gaza to 🇮🇹. This operation was made possible thanks to the EU @WHO, @DrTedros, & @DPCgov. The #EUCivilProtection Mechanism has enabled the evacuations of nearly 1,400 patients and companions from Gaza.
The first flights of the EU Humanitarian Air Bridge in response to hurricane #Melissa have already reached Kingston 🇯🇲 and Port au Prince 🇭🇹. They carried around 80 tonnes of essential supplies for communities impacted by the disaster, some from the EU’s Panama stockpile.
A 🇭🇷 firefighting plane, under 🇪🇺#CivilProtectionMechanism @eu_echo, is in action on 🇲🇪 coast, while other 🇪🇺 member states & neighbouring countries secure assistance. It is heartening to see European solidarity during these tragic days of wildfires and loss of brave responders.
