people think we are too harsh on usage of gen-ai? i don't think we are harsh enough. this destructive technology is stealing jobs, damaging the environment, pushing propaganda, hiking prices, jeapordizing our own health and safety even. there are no benefits in supporting it.

@HerringAli How much of a dealbreaker are older (5-10 years) comps? Auto throwaway? I'm querying a boy-led lower YA fantasy, which means the closest comps that I've been able to find are a bit older. But I worry it's sinking me in the trenches, making the story seem out of date, not "fresh"

I saw someone tweeting on here about needing to go back & pitch their novel differently to agents, & that is a REAL thing. It is a thing I have to address too with my authors. Maybe your comps are making agents look for certain genre beats, when it's something else for instance?

I just toured Milford Mine in Utah—an incredible copper extraction operation. Unfortunately, most U.S. copper gets shipped overseas, mainly to China, because we no longer have the capacity to refine it. When we outsource industry, we lose control over quality and environmental standards. It’s time to bring refining back home—to Utah and America.

@dalewritesstuff It does sting a bit that YA as an age category has underserved so many readers that now it's viewed as a genre Like I wish that people didn't go YA="girl books." But I know part of that IS publishing's fault rather than laziness + misogyny from readers (which is also a problem)

Yes, trad pub is focusing on female readers, YA and Romantasy is absolutely booming and deserves it's time LITRPG and Progression fantasy is also booming, DCC is a prime example, and is 100% aimed at a male readers (imo) There are plenty of books for men Stop moaning Bleh
