Everyone is talking about the Dallas country club prices. Yes $250,000 is a lot. Yes $30,000 a year is a lot. But the crazy part? If you won Powerball tomorrow, you’d still never be able to join a bunch of them. Preston Trail, Dallas, Northwood, Brookhollow you better go find a member to marry if you want in.

@Top100Rick @rossmacleodputt Golf Club often means own & by a private company. Country Club owned and run by the membership / equity holders. I am a member of a golf club that has pool, tennis, fitness, social memberships, etc. Outwardly look exactly the same as the country club down the road.

Now that I’m a Little League Dad an immediate observation is the psychotic new-age expectation of EVERY kid on the team having their own bat. 14 bats?! None of these kids can even hit. 🤦‍♂️

⭐️NEWS⭐️ @LAGolf has laid off most of their employees and has informed most fitting accounts, they will be DTC moving forward. This is sad news for employees of the company. They have instructed places like @clubchampmedia and others to remove shafts from the wall.

@Top100Rick I think it’s the narrow mow lines that catch the criticism, right? The setting and the handshake nature of the hole aren’t the flaw. The flaw is staring you right in the face from the tee. That strip of fairway with trees 30 yards into the rough just looks odd.

It’s a gentle handshake. But… You stand on the tee right next to the clubhouse with lunch diners watching. (Would be cooler if a patio ala Merion.) Your name is announced. While the tee shot is relatively simple, it’s not easy. And missing the fairway means no chance of going for it for mortals. You are at Riviera. Context matters. Golf isn’t played on a GCA drawing.

There is has been some discourse about whether the first hole at Riviera is actually a great golf hole. Unequivocally it is. 💯 Too many have bought into the idea that golf architecture alone is what makes a great golf hole. That’s simply false.
