The re-alignment of the A59 at Kex Gill has secured the final Government go-ahead. A new 4km stretch of road will be created, replacing an existing part of the A59 which has been affected by the landslips. Construction is set to begin in April. northyorks.gov.uk/news/article/k…

This trial by @northyorkscc of a camera continues. Two issues exist: adequate power which should be resolved as elsewhere by wind and solar. The transmission signal is greater challenge but our 5G MANY roll-out in that area should help.

I have asked @northyorkscc highways officers to brief me on feasibility of an uncontrolled crossing at this busy location adjacent to PoW Roundabout. I recognise current difficulties for pedestrians. Funding is in place for Wetherby Rd crossing at Slingsby Walk.

I’m not aware of such request to @northyorkscc about our funded Kex Gill scheme, which is a diversion of a problematic existing road which will be restored to nature. The new alignment will avoid threat of closure and environmentally damaging detour.
