Questions like: “Sam has 155 clams. Richard gives him 137 peaches. If the cows moo while facing north, how many snow cones does he have?” What are they even learning in there? Then — a week later — his teacher messages us: “He got almost all the answers wrong. He’s now failing English.” So we reach out. Ask if he can redo the assignments. Not just for a better grade… but so he can actually learn the material. Her response? “No. He can’t redo it.” We try to work with her. Offer to compromise. Her answer? “Maybe you shouldn’t go on vacation.” I’m done, dude. Our kids are in ELEMENTARY school. And this is already the circus we’re dealing with. I don’t want to homeschool. I never thought I’d even consider it. But the way this system is run? It’s starting to look like the better option. So here’s my honest question: What are we supposed to do? Because its much harder with the younger generation to find enough people who are committed to practice enough to get good with a musical instrument, good enough to perform and then stick with a bunch of people while you struggle to get attention and evolve, while making little money... The golden age of bands; 60s-early 90s, were times were young people were much more adventurous and had no problem living out of a touring van and cheap motels for years to make it.... Modern young people are all digital - everything is about becoming a social media influencer from your family home bedroom or basement, especially if you have an ability to sing - ....why take the hard and long route of being in a band when you can just sing on YouTube, get a few hundred thousand followers and have the possibility to get a starting recording contract? Thats just the mentality of many young people today....

Everyone's beef is with boomers who think THEY had it harder and more expensive than everyone, and they refuse to admit that everything is more expensive and life has gotten harder (under their leadership.) Yes, I am making it work because I benefit from generational wealth. The biggest problem with boomers is that they don't think they have a responsibility to share their excess wealth with their children to set them up for success. My grandparents shared their wealth with my parents, and my parents do the same for me. Many boomers seem to think this is not their responsibility and the money is ALL THEIRS to blow on cruises til they die.
