@dr_cellini The ordering doctor should have someone on call for his/her group that you can get ahold of. If you call their clinic number, you should eventually get to a triage nurse who can page the covering doc directly. Otherwise, call the patient and then maybe start calling next of kin.

@gbosslet As a medical student currently agonizing over her own PS, we are often warned against going “too weird” in our approach. How often do you read statements that are polished and humorous, but make you think the applicant is too odd to give an interview to?

1. Use one of the recipes if you want to write a safe, boring PS.
2. Compelling PSs are narrative stories that provide insights to you as a person that is unavailable otherwise.
