@haleyjason I haven't given it a look in a while but I really liked @Njuchi_'s Python course and I've recommended it to others that found it useful. I generally recommend following it up with something specific to what you are likely to build, an API course, an ML course, etc.

Ok, any Python followers have advice/resources on learning Python? I need to get a structured learning program to improve my skills ASAP.

@TheCloudPirate Seeing lots of recommendations for Obsidian, which is a fantastic tool. I've opted for Notion so I could access my notes online without syncing, because I'm often on computers I don't want Onedrive connected to.

@BuckWoodyMSFT Most of the orgs I've worked for have had one(larger enterprise). The startup I'm at is now building one and I've missed not having something like that. When I first joined they just had a Slack channel for asking IT. Now there is a basic catalogue with common requests.

@Merocle Another interesting use case & learning exercise might be slowly building up capabilities on a rover platform. Object recognition, pathing, servo/stepper control, accessories. Two part learning: how to do those tasks, how to distribute/chunk tasks in a way that leverages k8s

@Merocle I'm seeing more and more k8s deployed at the edge for running fairly mundane tasks like POS, data gateways, nvr+ai and similar. I'm using a small cluster for simulating industrial IoT edge scenarios. Protocol gateway, MES, MQTT broker, stream analytics, data governance, etc.

I'm testing a concept. Built a cluster of four Jetson Xavier NX 16GB Installed Kubernetes and Kubeflow. So what's next? I would be very grateful for the usage scenarios you see for such devices. And most importantly, what would you like to improve (besides the way it looks.)

@mikejulian I've really been enjoying using the "frames" feature in @MiroHQ since going to a shop that uses it. I can walk someone through my thought process, but as soon as we are on the same page we can bounce around out of order, make notes, make changes, ideate, etc.

Slide decks are an awful way to convey meaningful information. Their format forces brevity and destroys any nuance or complexity in the process. If I had my way, I'd ban slide decks in the entire world forever.

@Merocle This feels weird to say after a few years of supply constraints but I've somehow ended up with some extra CM4s. Have you made a decision about potentially selling the upberry?

It's been a long journey. The UpBerry has taken its final form. It's a Raspberry Pi CM4-based device designed from scratch (different iterations in the photo). The case is made of aluminum. The main purpose is to display dashboards in the office, but other usage scenarios are certainly possible. Support 4k60. USB-C for power, connecting peripherals (via USB hub), or PoE Ethernet to USB-C adapter (for use without Wi-Fi). Power on by holding down the button (in a round hole next to USB-C) puts the device in bootloader mode, so there is no need to disassemble it to install an OS or change configuration. Other characteristics are from Raspberry Pi CM4: - Broadcom BCM2711 quad-core Cortex-A72 CPU - up to 8GB LPDDR4 RAM - up to 32GB eMMC Flash memory - 2.4 GHz, 5.0 GHz IEEE 802.11 b/g/n/ac wireless - Bluetooth 5.0, BLE P.S. @SpaceHaxx @Merocle In an enterprise setting, a use case for this would be a test or QA environment, where having a high count of low-power physical systems would be of value. With the increasing prevalence ARM systems, having a pi cluster makes sense for building/validating AArch64/ARM images.

@mikejulian Couldn't agree more. The number of conversations I've had where moving a legacy app and suddenly the design has changed from "the dumpy server in the closet under the stairs" to "multi-AZ, 99.95% uptime Sure, lets do BETTER, but make these decisions based on actual requirements

There should be way more single-AZ deployments, IMO.

Not-so-hot take about AWS costs and resiliency: All these repatriation stories are going back to a single datacenter location and do resiliency on a rack basis at best. They're leaving multi-AZ setups. An AZ is 60+ miles from another AZ. Of course single deployment is cheaper.

Hey #CloudFamily, what are we using for external cameras at home? Want something for front door and then a separate something to cover the driveway. Good quality images is a must.

@Karl_ITNerd I also use a EUFY doorbell, as I needed one that works on battery, which Ubiquiti doesn't offer. I'd prefer to have everything in one platform but this works until I wire for a doorbell.

@Karl_ITNerd I recently moved off that and over to a Ubiquiti system. I was already using a UDM Pro, which can act as an NVR and I only had to buy cameras which turned out to be pretty reasonably priced. Both my wife and I really like the app experience and it requires less maintenance.
