Southwest Airlines is facing a public relations crisis following reports that a flight attendant, Michele Carpino, posted "We need better assassins" on social media shortly after a failed assassination attempt on President Donald Trump. Following reports of a breach at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, Carpino reportedly posted the comment "Oh please sweet baby Jesus... WE NEED BETTER ASSASSIN'S!" Reports indicate she has a history of anti-Trump posts, including using the code "86 47" (interpreted as "86"—killing/eliminating, and "47"—the 47th President) and expressing hope to wake up to a presidential obituary. A spokesperson for Southwest Airlines stated they are "aware of these posts" and are "addressing the situation," emphasizing that "this content does not reflect our values and we take it seriously". The incident occurred in May 2026, amid intense scrutiny of safety and security surrounding high-profile events. The posts, which were captured by viewers before being deleted, have led to widespread calls for her termination on social media, with many customers expressing discomfort regarding their safety on flights where she is working.

I took my daughter out for Chinese food last weekend, she’s 16, old enough to know better. We sat down, and when the waiter came to take our order, she made a comment, A racist one, directed at him, to his face. The waiter kept his composure, took our order, and walked away. I put my menu down and looked at her. She could tell from my face that something was coming, I called the waiter back over, told my daughter to stand up. She looked at me like I had lost my mind, i told her again, she stood up. I told her to apologize to this man properly. She started with a weak “sorry.” I told her that wasn’t good enough, i told her to get on her knees and apologize like she meant it. The restaurant went quiet. She looked around at the other tables. Then she looked at me. Got on her knees, and apologized. The waiter was gracious about it. He told her he appreciated it, then briefly explained what it felt like to deal with comments like that while just trying to do his job. She was crying before he finished talking. We ate our meal mostly in silence. When we got home, I grounded her for a whole month. No phone. No going out. Nothing. Some people told me I went too far. That kneeling was too much, I disagree. She embarrassed a man in his place of work in front of strangers. The least she could do was feel a fraction of that discomfort. I’m not raising a child who thinks people are beneath her. Not on my watch. Was I too harsh, or did my daughter get exactly what she needed?

I had a couple of hours to kill the other afternoon, so I headed over to my local golf course to play a quick nine. An older gentleman walked up and asked if he could join me since we were both playing solo. I figured he might slow things down a bit, but I said sure. Turns out, he was a great partner. He wasn’t fast, but he kept a steady pace and never held me up. Plus, he’d been playing that course for decades and had a helpful tip for just about every hole. When we got to the ninth, I ran into trouble. My tee shot sliced off to the side and landed near the edge of the course. Between me and the green stood a towering oak tree, just a few yards ahead. I stood there staring at it, trying to figure out my next move. The old-timer nodded and said, “You know, I was in that exact spot about thirty years ago. I just hit it right over the top of that tree and landed on the green.” “Seriously?” I asked. “Seriously,” he said with a confident grin. So I grabbed my iron, took a big swing, and sent the ball straight up. It smacked the tree halfway up and dropped right back down—four feet behind me. He chuckled and said, “Well now… thirty years ago, that tree was only about three feet tall.”

Might be a prerequisite to actually go to one of these stadiums before putting them on a list, I can't speak to any of the other ones, but Memorial Stadium in BR is a dump, the best thing it's got going for it is ample parking. I think they've still got the same bathrooms and lights since it was built as WPA project under FDR 😂

My dad called me today “Hey, i’m struggling to pay my property tax for this year. It went up almost $1500 to $8188 for the year versus $6600 for last year. I’m confused, i thought taxes were not to increase for two years. Did yours go up as well? This really sucks! They are trying to drive us out of the state.” My dad is 76 and lives on social security. He’s lived in the same house since 1993. It’s been paid off for two decades. Yet he owes $8k in property taxes, or the state of Texas will take his home. This is criminal

I don't understand the boomers that hoard all their wealth from their kids. I have a good buddy that's struggling. Married with a few kids. He's smart. Graduated university with great grades, got hired by a good company, & did everything "right." He got laid off over a year ago & told me he's sent 10,000 resumes in with no job offerings..... He's working side gigs but his family is stressed. His folks are retired & in their 70's. His dad recently told him he's got north of 15 million invested!!! My buddy said he didn't say anything & didn't want to be disrespectful but it perplexed him. Why wait until you die to gift it to your kids?! It's worth more now helping out in my opinion that in 20 years when you die & you give 25 million to a 55 year old that's also then likely set & not stressed. You can gift like what 16k a year tax free too. It's their money, & when my folks sat my sister & I down for the inheritance talk we both said we don't want/expect anything you raised us well so do you!!!! But, I guarantee if I was in this guys shoes my folks would offer help. I don't understand the logic not to.

I got an echocardiogram done and a male tech escorted me to my room. He told me to undress from the waist up, put on the gown that was provided, and to leave it open in the front. I changed and realized this man was about to perform the echo. When I opened the door, he was standing right in front of it. I immediately requested a female nurse because no.

⛸️This woman just got back from her third date and says she won’t be seeing him again. She had been crystal clear with her date — who is also a doctor — that she has vertigo and does NOT ice skate. He knew it and agreed to other activities… then still booked two full hours on the ice, pressured her onto it, and spent the whole time showing off laps while she hugged the wall dizzy and miserable. She finally left mid-date. Ignoring someone’s explicit boundaries — especially when they’re health-related — tells you everything you need to know. Have you ever had a date (or anyone) completely blow past a clear “no” you gave them, especially something health-related? Or what’s the earliest red flag that made you walk away?

A lot of faithful Catholics who are much brighter than I are confused by this. Barron seems to claim that it’s the Trump admin or Putin’s govt who gets to decides what is a just war? So what about the many popes who’ve declared specific wars unjust, eg JPII & Iraq or Leo & Iran?
Bishop Robert Barron@BishopBarron

There is a way past the absurd and deeply divisive “war” between the President and the Pope, which has been enthusiastically ginned up by the press. And it is indicated in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph 2309 to be precise. After laying out the various criteria for determining a just war—proportionality, last resort, declaration by a competent authority, reasonable hope of success, etc.—the Catechism points out that “the evaluation of these conditions for moral legitimacy belongs to the prudential judgment of those who have responsibility for the common good.” The assumption is that the just war principles function, to use the technical term, as heuristic devices, designed to guide the practical decision-making of those civil authorities who have to adjudicate matters of war and peace. The role of the Church, therefore, is to call for peace and to urge that any conflict be strictly circumscribed by the moral constraints of the just war criteria. But it is not the role of the Church to evaluate whether a particular war is just or unjust. That appraisal belongs to the civil authorities, who, one presumes, have requisite knowledge of conditions on the ground. So, is the war in question truly the last resort? Is there really a balance between the good to be attained and the destruction caused by the war? Are combatants and non-combatants being properly distinguished in the waging of the conflict? Do the belligerents have right intention? Is there a reasonable hope of success? The posing of those questions—indeed the insistence upon their moral relevance—belongs rightly to the Church, but the answering of them belongs to the civil authorities. The Pope has said, on numerous occasions, that he is not a politician and that his role is not the determination of any nation's foreign policy. But he has just as clearly said that he will continue to speak for peace and for moral constraint. In making both of these claims, he is operating perfectly within the framework of paragraph 2309 of the Catechism. If we understand that the Pope and the President have qualitatively different roles to play in the determination of moral action in regard to war, we can, I hope, extricate ourselves from the completely unhelpful narrative of “Pope vs. President.”

@SpeakerJohnson @ShreveportMayor Instead of empty prayers for those who are dead, why not enact meaningful gun control laws? LA has permitless concealed carry alongside existing open-carry rights and operates under "shall issue" for permits, along with "Stand Your Ground." Whada you expect would happen?

The Shreveport community is mourning and working through today’s senseless tragedy. Please join us in praying especially for the families of the victims and all the first responders involved. I just spoke with @ShreveportMayor Tom Arceneaux about the situation and the multiple law enforcement agencies currently engaged in the investigation to pledge any assistance we can possibly provide. What apparently began as a domestic dispute this morning ended in a mass shooting with ten people shot—including eight children, ages 1 to 14, who all lost their lives. Local officials are saying it is one of the worst tragedies they have ever seen. God be with the community through this terrible time.
