Well, it's been 2 months in the Geezer Gulch Old Folks Repository. We've learned a few things. Not having individual bills, lawn care, garbage, water, electricity, TV, internet, etc. is nice. Wife loves not cooking, cleaning, changing linens, etc. The food is good and plentiful! It is indeed different from the outside, (real) world. One difference we still have to get used to is that there are two kinds of people in a place like this, and NO, it isn't male & female. The first type, which includes the wife and I, like other people, enjoy learning and doing new things and don't give a thought to age. Thank GOD we're the vast majority. Sadly, there is a small contingent waiting, and in some cases, looking forward to no longer being. Sad. We have a lady who, at a peppy 102, will request assistance propping up the lid on the grand piano and then knock out a half hour of classical to Elvis. We were semi-adopted by a 91 year old little old lady to show us the ropes. She is 5 % rope shower, and 95 % hilarious. I wish we had done this 5 or so years ago! 😁

Today was my last day in the office, answering emails and doing my work as a PIO. I’m taking the rest of the week off, and next week I’ll turn in my equipment and finish my final paperwork. After 27 years as a full-time Dallas Police Officer, I’m proud of the career I’ve had and the incredible people I’ve worked alongside. I’m especially grateful for the amazing women who have been so uplifting, supportive, and empowering. I also want to thank my husband, children and my parents for their love and support through it all—especially my late father, who I know is smiling down on me. I’ll be transitioning into a reserve officer role, so this isn’t goodbye—it’s just “see you when I see you.” 🩵
