@effiewebbjourno Did you really rush out a story with minimal fact checking just to meet a deadline? Do you not see how harmful your actions are on the public’s confidence in the NHS?

@UKGastroDr I suspect what that person really means is that it’s easy to pick out IBD in a multiple choice Q about diarrhoea where the other options are migraine, pneumonia and depression.

As a Consultant Gastroenterologist with a specialist interest in IBD, I am challenged every week to manage patients with complex IBD. It is not a condition that is classified as anybody’s “bread and butter”.

Makes it pretty hard to continue the narrative that "THey WerE SoLd As AsSISTants" when as far back as 2011 there is no change in job description and the RCP still went on to absorb UKAPA in 2015. How many lies do you need to be caught in before questions start to get asked about whether the public are being mislead by doctors about PAs? Undoing themselves...

Spending lots of time in a single field doesn’t make you an expert. Also, your linked study doesn’t support your claim.

EM consultants… Would you be able to explain why med school and post graduate training is needed to become an ED consultant, but med school and post graduate training isn’t need to become ED reg equivalent? I can’t get my head around it

@HDambhaMiller @SecretPhysician It’s interesting you called them ‘lead geriatrician PA’ which seems misleading to me. Imo, ‘geriatrician’ implies doctor. We wouldn’t call a nurse working in cardio a cardiologist nurse. I think language really matters in the PA issue. (Not intended to be an attack on you).

@MandrewTing @SecretPhysician These concerns could be addressed if the@gmcuk who regulates PAs issue clearer guidance about how PAs are required to present themselves in person or online.This blurb from the lead geriatrician PA would be very confusing for a patient and looks purposely misleading.
