@stphnmaher Certainly somewhere in Nolan’s top five for me (need to see it again). Had a great time.

@NolanAnalyst I felt that scene needed a few more minutes to breath. One of my only quibbles with the film.

I might be the only person who loved Scylla’s design in The Odyssey. Genuinely original.

@mypalal @thejabbas Pretty unprofessional for a critic, especially someone who is logged on Metacritic. Makes me question how honest or fair your review was.

@NolanAnalyst Without spoilers, do you think R rating was necessary? I hear U.S. is very strict. It is rated pg in Canada.

Strangely, I’ve had a lot of people asking me in DMs whether the horror elements in THE ODYSSEY are too disturbing. There are really only two scenes that could be described as semi-horror (the Cyclops and Circe), and there’s nothing traumatic about them. In my opinion, anyone over 12 can watch the film.

I really wanted to post my Christopher Nolan ranking, but I just can’t. Too many of his films are neck and neck and my ranking changes almost daily 😭

The new Maple Leafs took the axe to 11 longtime employees on Wednesday. Among those let go: longtime scout, Dave Morrison; director of amateur scouting, Mark Leach; assistant GM Darryl Metcalf and many from the analytics department. @koshtorontosun with more on this ...

We’re about to witness something unprecedented in cinema history: a film that has been relentlessly trashed for political reasons and insignificant details like a single shot, yet will leave audiences speechless with its quality and go down as one of the defining films of its generation. I’m not saying this at random. I’m saying it because of the reviews I’ve received from people who have actually seen the film. I genuinely hope everyone who spent months attacking a film they hadn’t even seen will feel embarrassed. In just a few days, watching them desperately backtrack is going to be fascinating.

I've decided that declining to watch The Odyssey just isn't enough. From this point forward, I will never watch another Christopher Nolan release in the cinema. I'm done, and we should all be done, quite frankly, with that man.

The Odyssey: a surprisingly natural (and less despairing) Oppenheimer follow-up about a man haunted by defying the gods & dooming civilization - this one fights to avenge his own hubris. IMAX obviously immense. too clunky to be S-tier Nolan, but the last act rewards the journey.

@ErickWeber And you will give a dishonest review, even if it is good, by crapping all over it. So what’s the difference?

@NolanAnalyst Honestly, I was more nervous weeks ago before we knew anything. Seems like we have enough of a sense at this point that the film is at least good; we just need to learn how good.

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is set for a huge opening week starting July 17, 2026, even with early mixed reviews. I predict a domestic opening weekend of $130–170 million, with potential to clear $180 million with premium format demand. That could drive a first 7-day domestic haul of $170–230 million and $320–420 million globally. The $250 million epic stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, with Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, and Charlize Theron. Shot for IMAX, it delivers Nolan’s signature spectacle. Early reviews are mixed, with criticism aimed at its cerebral tone and deviations from the myth. That division could fuel curiosity and drive more people to theaters. With a clear summer window and heavy marketing, Nolan’s event status gives the film a major boost. Audience demand for large-scale mythic action is high. If word-of-mouth among fans is strong, it could reach $650 million to $1 billion-plus worldwide. The controversy may turn into free publicity and help its box office legs. The Odyssey remains prime appointment cinema.

Christopher Nolan’s THE ODYSSEY countdown trailer has become the most disliked Hollywood trailer since the trailer for SNOW WHITE with Rachel Zegler. THE ODYSSEY now has an estimated ~80% dislikes, while SNOW WHITE had ~95% dislikes.

@colliderfrosty @Collider @odysseymovie If you can ask non-Odyssey questions, here is one for Nolan a lot of his fans have wondered: Does he prefer to always have a different lead actor in his films or is this more coincidence? Besides Bale in Batman, he’s never reused the same actor for a lead role.
