Why is it assumed that a Palestinian state is some sort of moral duty, that everyone must agree to accomplish? What makes them better than the Kurds, or Catalans, or Hmong - all of whom are considerably less dysfunctional and genocidal?

@MBBHACK @JoshInEncinitas @TacomaBryan @grok I think (I’m inferring bc the OP is being cagey) the point is that these homes are being passed down THROUGH the generations bc of trusts? 🤷🏼‍♂️ I have a trust bc if my wife & I die the home is under ‘ownership’ of the trust Heirs can sell the home & split proceeds easy wo probate

Following the Senate Democratic vote to halt military equipment sales to Israel, Rep. Ro Khanna addressed the party’s position: “We're a party that believes in two states in peace. But let me tell you what we're not for. We're not for aid to Israel. They've got a $45 billion defense budget. Why are we giving them money?” abcnews.com/Politics

The thing is this: A lot of Zionists in America still do not understand how hated Israel is by the general public. They think theyre just unpopular. Not the most hated country in the world. Pop culture accounts *benefit* from being anti-Israel, their followers want them to be
Yashar Ali 🐘@yashar

This is just nuts. If you don’t agree with the messaging of an account, point that out specifically. Not everything is a psyop or something coordinated. As I said earlier, @PopBase and @PopCrave cater to young audiences who, since October 2023, want to see accounts they follow occasionally post about social and geopolitical issues — especially Israel and Gaza. It’s not a coordinated influence campaign to support Hamas — it’s just good business for these accounts. This account points out that, in 2025, @PopCrave posted 18 times about Israel, as if that is some substantial number. Pop Crave has, at times, posted over 100 times in a single day. Eighteen posts is nothing.

@AdamKoffler @randycharb $3,300 a month is fine and totally normal (maybe low) on $200k in nearly every metro area for rentals …. Shouldn’t young couples scrimp and save for down payment then payoff to PMI to OWN an asset that will not inflate in monthly $$$ ?

Here’s Dave Ramsey’s advice on buying a house in the year 2026: - Have 20% for a down payment to avoid private mortgage insurance (PMI) - Do a 15-year fixed rate loan - Make sure your monthly payment isn’t more than 1/4th of your take home pay Let’s put that math to the test 👇🏼

@DanFriedman81 You can’t separate the two… Part of the reason the left in particular HATES Jews is their success You can’t say that Israel is not a success, especially from an economic point of view From that perspective, the left hate both equally

People don’t hate Jews because they hate Israel. They hate Israel because they hate Jews. And the recent rapid political shifts are not happening because Netanyahu failed, they are happening because organized American Jewry failed. We believed that building an America that was safe and welcoming for all would build an America that was safe and welcoming for us, but the truth is that the people we welcomed — the third world so many of us foolishly supported importing — despise us, and as their numbers rise and the face of America changes, our position erodes. Third worldism is explicitly antisemitic because the third world is antisemitic, and mass migration from the third world is mass importation of antisemitism. The reason the younger cohort of Americans are anti-Israel isn’t because of anything Israel did, it’s a simple matter of demographics. The Jewish people have enemies and always will. We can extend the olive branch to them. We can preach tolerance. We can try to build bridges. None of that matters, just like it didn’t when organizations and movements progressive Jews offered allyship to and thought would reciprocate abandoned us to support Hamas on October 7, 2023. Our enemies will firebomb Jewish-owned businesses and shoot at synagogues, and when they outnumber us we won’t have any protection from the state. And no amount of peace, love and understanding will dissuade them. Jewish safety is only possible within certain social parameters, and those parameters have been crossed throughout Europe, in Canada and in New York City. It will happen all over America unless we do something quickly to stop it. We have to reconsider what we very recently thought were core Jewish values. We have to quickly recognize who our enemies are and what the new threat to us is, and shift our advocacy for the fight we’re facing. We can’t keep tilting at the windmill of “white supremacy” or the far right. If we don’t make America great again, they’ll make America into a place we can’t live.

@NoahArbit The MSM media’s coverage of Israel is deeply biased During the Gaza war I watched example after example of misinformation, incomplete reporting and often outright incorrect reporting (CBS & CBN mostly) The real question is why? If it’s just the MSM working for Dems, again WHY??

This has generally been my experience as a liberal Zionist since October 7th. The blue-haired progressives are “experts” on a conflict they aren’t connected to and definitely don’t understand, whereas you can have nuanced convos with Arabs bc they know the stakes.
Wolfietron@Burneraccount81

We are quickly heading to a place where middle eastern Arabs will have a more nuanced and reasonable view of Israel than White liberals in America. I'm not even a little bit kidding.

Hypothetically, if Israel somehow had a "pro-peace" government committed to a 2 state solution, then I think their numbers with Dems could improve. This won't happen anytime soon, but it is possible.
Matthew Yglesias@mattyglesias

This whole thread is true-ish but also ignores the extent to which political support for Israel has collapsed among Democrats because Israel hasn’t had a government that’s been interested in trying to cultivate support among Democrats. Things might change.

This is so messed up. Imagine if Brad Pitt was publicly comparing who f*cked him better Jennifer Anniston or Angelina Jolie. He wouldn’t. Because he’s not a pig. This is absolutely disgusting, disrespectful behaviour that would not be tolerated if the roles were reversed. Those guys have children, who have mothers that aren’t Gwyneth. Imagine, those children now have to hear the details of their Dads pleasuring another woman. Purely for her own ego. @GwynethPaltrow should be ashamed. Grow the f*ck up and have some respect.

I would very much like to agree with Haviv, but unfortunately he is wrong. I assume this comes from the difficulty of looking at the situation as it truly is because it is deeply painful. But the language of “complexity” cannot be used to obscure the truth. Yes, the overall situation is complex, but some things are clear and simple. There is one power from the river to the sea, and that power is Israel. Under Israeli rule, there are citizens and subjects. In practice, there is no real distinction today between Israel governing within its sovereign territory and the Israeli civil system governing the West Bank. It is also not credible to claim that the political decision to displace Palestinians and expand Jewish presence in the West Bank is driven primarily by security concerns. It reflects a maximalist political and religious ideology that seeks to establish a single state from the river to the sea, at an immense moral cost. As Klein argues, acknowledging this does not negate the very real and devastating toll Israel has paid from Hamas and Hezbollah terrorism. But that is not what ultimately drives current policy. The aspiration to control the entire territory predates these events. In this sense, some actors now frame the current moment, especially in the aftermath of October 7, as a kind of “miraculous moment” to advance that long-held vision. Elements within the settler movement and their allies appear to view it as a rare opportunity to push forward the idea of a single state from the river to the sea, one that would be emptied of Palestinians. And perhaps most importantly: there is no real debate, and no genuine aspiration to change this reality. Today, there is no significant political force within Israeli society that sees control over the West Bank as temporary. It is understood as a permanent condition, backed across the political system. We are living in a moment where even members of the opposition visit and legitimize violent outposts, not only Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir, but figures beyond them as well. And on Lebanon: Israel is facing a deeply troubling security reality vis à vis Hezbollah. But rather than fully exploring the opportunity to work with the Lebanese government, Israel has chosen to act like a bully, devastating entire civilian areas and, at times, targeting individuals who are part of the opposition to Hezbollah. As Bezalel Smotrich himself has said, there are also those who see this as an opportunity to expand Israel’s borders. Haviv, when this is the reality, it is hard to accept security-based explanations at face value. They can explain many things, but not this. Today’s Israel often appears unable to imagine resolving challenges through anything other than overwhelming, indiscriminate force. Civilians are not counted, and even core security interests can become secondary to the need to satisfy the political base, and, for some, the goal of territorial expansion. And in trying to explain this grim reality, you are, in effect, legitimizing it, offering yourself as the acceptable, reasonable face of a system that, in practice, looks very different. These are the facts, unfortunately. @havivrettiggur @ezraklein
Rachel Gur@RachelGur

Ezra Klein’s recent video about the “one-state reality” of Israelis and Palestinians caused a stir. It’s what a foreigner might think who isn’t curious about what Israelis and Palestinians think is happening to them. Here is @havivrettiggur response:
