@alleycat0592 I've done both ways. Violent chills/shaking after delivery regardless. Recoveries got easier on me once my ob started inducing me at 38 weeks. Having the babies just a bit smaller was the biggest help.

I’ve had it both ways and I never realized how much of the difficulty in recovery is due to epidural I stood up and walked soon as baby was out last time. Feels way better than bed rotting and shaking when you stand Plus more controlled pushing

After going through childbirth again I can once again confirm that epidurals are a miracle that instantly transform a very traumatic experience into a calm and peaceful one and it’s such a better way to meet your baby, there’s no purpose to the pain, you’re just having a worse time for no reason

Be honest with me, Americans 🇺🇸 Do you actually own a gun? In Japan, I have never seen a real one. Not once. Not at a friend's house. Not in a drawer. Never. But online, every American just goes "oh, mine's in the nightstand" like it's a phone charger 🔌 So now I'm genuinely curious: What's YOUR gun? The very first one you ever got? Is this normal everywhere in the US? Or just some states?

I often get asked by parents, what does my kid need to achieve to earn a place at UC Berkeley? The answer is, I don’t know. There used to be an implicit social contract that if a California resident excels in school and is a very high achiever, there would be a predictable path to one of the leading campuses of the University of California system. Until the early-2000s this was explicit in that between 50-75% of incoming classes had to be admitted on the basis of academic criteria alone (GPA, SATs, APs). A high school student basically knew what they had to hit to get admitted to Cal. UCs no longer considers SAT/ACT scores, and letters of recommendation are generally not part of the application. The remaining academic record is heavily based on grades, course-taking, "school context", supplemented by personal insight questions (in the AI era!) and activities. But in an era of substantial grade inflation, transcripts have become a noisy signal. True academic achievement matters much less than it used to. The result is, while not literally random, highly unpredictable and illegible admissions. For California families, it is no longer clear what level of achievement is enough for their kids, or even what kind of achievement the system is trying to reward. I suspect that is not what most families in California want.

@cyprx3a4 @dleeann2 That is not in fact how it works, it’s not an on off switch whatsoever, it’s a numbing feeling and you can be more or less numb. Also it’s very clear you’ve never had one because it’s self administered.

A student in a 300 year old university is taking a test when he makes a strange request. He raises his hand, the teacher acknowledges him. “I request and requires cakes and ale.” The teacher is confounded. “What?” “I request and requires cakes and ale.” “No. Finish your test.” The student continues, holding up a book: “I’m sorry sir, in the school handbook, it very clearly states that if a student is sitting for an exam, and he requests and requires cakes and ale, that such shall be provided for him.” The teacher takes a look, acknowledges the truth of the student’s words, and with soda and a snack cake being the most readily available, the student is satisfied. The next week, the student was suspended for not wearing his sword to class.

I always got annoyed by those hypersensitive content warnings on older movies, but the kids are watching the 1954 version of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and our 8yo just asked us for cigarettes.

I have a serious question for anyone at the Office of the Secretary of the Navy or the Department of War. Why are underway Sailors at Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia, many of whom are currently deployed to the Middle East for combat operations against Iran, required to pay $80 per month to the Navy Exchange (NEX) - a retail chain meant to support Sailors and their families which is owned and operated by the U.S. Navy - just to store their cars inside an overgrown, nonsecure, fenced lot? If Sailors decide not to park in the lot and leave their car anywhere else on base, they risk having their car towed, impounded, and in some cases auctioned off. How does this support our Sailors, many of whom are already struggling financially? Can something please be done about this? @SECNAV @USNavy @DeptofWar @DOWResponse @PeteHegseth

Councils are warning England fans not to fly the St George’s Cross during the World Cup, claiming it is “unsafe” and bad for “community cohesion”. In England. During a World Cup. If you are offended by England’s flag, feel free to make your way to the nearest airport.

My wife names all the printers in our office funny names. Today we realized the poor little Epson multi-function didn’t have a name. So she gave it one. May I present to you: “Release the Epson Files” 😂
