The Justice Department published a list of what it considers to be sanctuary cities last year, and I've highlighted their murder rate on this ranking of the cities with at least 500,000 people.

Nearly 3 in 4 people booked into ICE detention in 2026 had no criminal conviction. Only one in 17 had a violent criminal conviction. There is a disconnect between the types of people DHS highlights and the types of people DHS arrests.
