Yet again...high carbohydrate intake did not produce better performance. A new study compared 40g vs 90g carbohydrate in three endurance exercise performance settings. In none of these performance scenarios did 90g outperform 40g. In one scenario, 40g outperformed 90g. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.11… So what does this mean...it means yet another study does not demonstrate a carbohydrate dose response on exercise performance...in fact it shows that maybe lower relative carbohydrate intake may be better in some circumstances. Do what you want. Be informed.

@Hybridathlete Lots of big mile / time long runs at marathon pace. This is what he is lacking. Plus top end speed in the week. everything else should be 8.30 pace

A friend of a friend has been trying to BQ for about five years now. My friend told me that for the past 3 months, his coach has had him running 70mpw and foucsing on "speed work." He does his "easy" runs at ~8:00 pace. He just ran 3:15 on a 700' net downhill course. This guy has been running 50 to 70 mi a week for the past five years and his marathon time has fluctuated between 3:05- 3:20 with multiple DNFs along the way. This type of training is far more common than people realize. Yes he's working hard, but he's also just been spinning his wheels for five years and has made no progress. He's just beating himself into the ground day after day. I bet some of you reading this are simultaneously nodding your head and saying, "Yeah that's a stupid plan, how does he not see that?" while your training and (lack of) progress looks very similar but you don't even realize it, or choose to ignore it. I think too many people don't track their progress enough. They just put in work and focus on miles or volume or whatever. But if you're putting in all that work and you're not seeing clear measurable progress, that should be a massive red flag to stop, assess, and figure out why.

@andrew_flatt @ACBPhysio Steady but your hr is hitting c.185 for the last 3-5 minutes? And you are spending 12 minutes of a 30 min session in zone 5? This is not steady.

Can anyone recommend a dead simple, easy to use notetaking app based on markdown files? Obsidian is far too complicated for me. I'm looking for Apple Notes, but with markdown storage

@OB1473829 @RossMcCaff I ran one in 2.55 last week in manchester. Am I qualified to weigh in? The answer is, that I am. His tweet is correct mostly. Runna's marketing team has performed woefully this year. It's positioned itself very badly and its influencers have performed even worse.

@matthewsyed The story is actually larger than you see. The story is actually Starmer's shocking poor judgement. If his judgement is this poor on the appointment of one person, then god knows that else he fails at.

The bandwidth sucked up by the Mandelson non-story is embarrassing. A minor appointment taken in what was perceived to be the national interest. Astonishing that the Westminster bubble is still obsessed but then tittle tattle started to define British politics a long time ago

Notice how he slipped up by saying this was for the “Muslim community" before quickly correcting himself to "it’s not just for the Muslim community." They’re already making areas just for them.

@BrianSuttererMD I did my marathon PB last week in 2.55. My legs were fine, not cramping, not aching, but also sort of didn't really feel like my legs. Very robotic sensation. I fuelled well, days before and during my race. Training block was good. We're used to it. (not an elite!)

Serious question for the elite runners - do his legs even hurt? What’s he feeling physically down the stretch?

Sometimes I feel like putting my entire $25,000 emergency fund into $STRC and collect a 11,5% yearly dividend on it. Would you consider this a good idea?

I told Claude to build me a Trello replica By noon, I maxed out my $100 plan The app looks really terrible. I think I need thousands of prompts, a team, and several $200 subscriptions to create something useful. This isn't looking good for AI right now

Runners... I want your opinions. I'm curious how long you think it'll take for me to be able to run a 20 min 5km. I started running about 10 weeks ago. Recently got a 5k PB of 24:20. I'm 5 ft 7. 72.5kgs (if it matters lol) How long do you think it'll take?

@andrew_flatt I on the other hand wear my forerunner 965 correctly 24/7 (apart from charging) and feel that the trends are accurate. VO2 and lactate (different to HRV of course) have been lab tested and are within a very small tolderance. Frequency of wear and how you wear will effect.

@andrew_flatt Genuine question. Do you measure the wrist and make sure that the watch is on the same hole of the strap for the entirety of the study? Is it always worn in the same way by participants? My mum for example wears an Apple Watch so loose that it locks.

Early look at our ongoing comparison of Forerunner 265 vs H10 for HRV via Health Snapshot. Garmin overestimates lower HRV & increasingly underestimates higher HRV. Unsuitable for research, patient/athlete monitoring. Congrats to Kayla for completing her UG Honors project!

What3words running a secondary sale in an 80% down round is absolutely criminal This company has burned through hundreds of millions of dollars and in the last year generated £2m of revenue. It's doing a crowdfund and a secondary sale valuing the company at £50m way down from its heights. £50m on £2m of revenue for a company that is 11 years old is still massively over valued.

@benbloomsport The problem is that there are an incredibly small amount of people who are genuinely trans. Most are men with a kink acting out their fantasies, knowing that society will not beat them up. The only guy I see doing this in a local run club gets uncomfortably close to the kids.

Two distinct things can be true: 1. Women's sport must be protected. 2. Parkrun allows people to run with dogs/buggies. It's for everyone. It's not a competition. The suggestion that a trans runner is a threat to anyone's morning fun run is ludicrous. telegraph.co.uk/sport/2026/04/…
