DC's mayor has announced the DC Hospitality Amendment Act of 2026. If passed, it would allow: • BIDs to sell alcohol in DC-controlled public spaces, ie Franklin Park • Breweries to open brewpubs • Distillers to collaborate on spirits (1/x)

JUST ANNOUNCED: Legislation to modernize DC's alcohol laws and provide support to our city's hospitality industry. When we make it easier to do business in DC, we make it easier to create jobs and we make it easier for Washingtonians to realize their dreams of entrepreneurship.

Word to the Wise: Chicago Follows DC in repealing elimination of the #TipCredit tip-wage system that workers support in major victory repeated in other jurisdictions nationwide – tell the @OneFairWage/#OneFlatWage folks to accept defeat across the nation + stop attacking workers!
Michael Saltsman@Mike_Saltsman

Wow: Chicago follows DC in *repealing* tip credit elimination. The Windy City discovered, like countless others before it, that no tip credit = higher prices, lower tips, fewer jobs. It's yet another blow to @onefairwage, which has seen its limited "wins" on this issue evaporate in the face of bipartisan public and worker opposition.

Breaking: Chicago City Council votes 30-18 to FREEZE Mayor Brandon Johnson’s One Fair Wage ordinance, halting one of his signature policy wins but falling short of veto-proof majority.

D.C. Mayor Bowser says she is "disappointed" after a chaotic Saturday night involving hundreds of teens and young adults in D.C.’s Navy Yard turned violent. Police say more than 200 young people gathered before fights broke out. A 15-year-old was arrested after allegedly firing gunshots into the air. Three kids were robbed, and two were beaten and taken to the hospital. Bowser says there must be accountability for families and children who think it’s okay to treat neighborhoods like that. We are from DC! We don’t fall for the rhetoric. We call out convenient omissions. And when we bear witness to untruths we confront them with the truth. As your Mayor, I will hold every elected official and every part of this city’s government accountable and make sure they are serving you! We need a government that works for the people, not off the backs of the people. Affordability. Opportunity. Accountability. That’s what I’m fighting for! Vote on June 16th! #FightAndDeliver #FightForAllDC

One vision for DC looks like a city that works for YOU, is affordable, and opportunity rich. The other looks like New York. Increased costs, tax hikes dressed up as hope, grand plans with no experience to back them up, and a new mayor already retreating on his biggest promises. DC isn’t NY. We won’t let our city be part of that experiment. #FightAndDeliver #FightForAllDC

You’ve got a candidate in the race who points the finger when it comes to utility costs, but hasn’t even attempted to PASS a SINGLE piece of standalone legislation to deal with the problem. You’ve got a candidate running to be Mayor who has made lofty campaign promises but hasn’t delivered for their OWN Ward. I have the experience needed to reform the current system and will do so as Mayor of DC. And I won’t legislate via TikTok and instagram. When I told you I would fight and deliver for this city, I meant it. #FreeDC @freedcproject_

The fact that the only way to meaningfully lower housing costs requires letting capitalists make a lot of money building new homes kind of breaks some people’s brains.

@AlexKomaDC …dude, just endorse her already and be done with the game of pretending! …“to support local businesses” I can’t stop chuckling. Does that notion even really occur in her anti-enterprise @DemSocialists ideological mindset?!

Lewis George also said she’d support more car-free areas to support local businesses. She named Upshur Street and 17th St as some examples: “Why are there cars in Adams Morgan?”
Alex Koma@AlexKomaDC

Interesting: In answering a q on Trump/Congress, Lewis George says she recently arranged a meeting alongside labor unions with Va. Rep. Eugene Vindman, who’s voted against DC on several recent bills. She says he felt like he hasn’t heard from DC leaders ahead of these votes.

“It should be obvious that charging $10 to come to Downtown D.C. is a bad idea." Mayor Muriel Bowser criticized the D.C. Council’s congestion report several years after its completion, calling it a “congestion pricing tax scheme.” wtop.com/dc/2026/03/may…
