@MartinScopes @DJTNYCLUB It will cut parking on that street in half, and remove two lanes of traffic, one in each direction (E and W bound)

Upper West Side bike lane plan sparks backlash over traffic disruption and lack of community input.
Hundreds of Upper West Side residents and business owners are opposing a New York City Department of Transportation proposal to install a protected, two-way bike lane along West 72nd Street in Manhattan. A newly formed coalition has gathered more than 1,000 signatures and is planning a rally, arguing the redesign would reduce car lanes and worsen congestion on an already heavily trafficked corridor.
Opponents say the plan was introduced with limited community input and could disrupt bus routes, subway access, and delivery operations that local businesses depend on. They warn that narrowing roadway space could make daily traffic conditions more difficult and impact curbside loading essential for shops and services.
This isn’t just about bike infrastructure. It’s about street capacity and neighborhood function. Critics argue that removing vehicle lanes in dense commercial areas can create bottlenecks, slow emergency and delivery access, and shift congestion onto nearby streets rather than solving it.
For New Yorkers, the concern is practical. Changes to major corridors like West 72nd Street can affect commuting times, delivery reliability, and local business operations, especially in areas already dealing with high traffic volume and limited street space.

It’s funny how defensive car people get. They literally can’t imagine that people live their lives differently than they do. I don’t have a car and use ride sharing or cabs very infrequently. It’s all okay though! We just don’t want the city to be designed solely for drivers.

Yall love saying yall don’t need cars let me see that phone I bet yall be in taxis and Ubers and Lyfts. Get The Fuck Outta Here

some pretty lazy license plate manipulation spotted in Manhattan just now
English

@Bauzen @DJTNYCLUB Ideally in the newly formed loading zones! This is a solved problem.
English

@MartinScopes @DJTNYCLUB Know the cars and trucks who are already double parked there every day?
Where do you think they’ll park instead?
English

@Lit_bori1 @LuckySevenMoon *you’re* but also it’s true and backed up with both stats and lived reality. I know many of these people!
English

How could you possible NEED something that the majority of residents do not have?
Amra Olević Reyes@amrezy
I’m sorry but you absolutely do need a car in NYC
English

@gothichijabi @nazzobetweeting I know!!! But the bait so good! Hard to resist

Placard corruption is a public safety issue!
MEYER@dahvnyc
It appears this MTA vehicle was illegally parked in front of a fire hydrant in a commercial vehicles-only zone
English

@JessiAngel143 @CitiBikeNYC Wow look at all those unused cars sitting around taking up space!! What a grift!
English

Bay Ridge is a town with 10+ miles of a bike lane by the water. Weird how we are told @CitiBikeNYC is necessary, but no one ever uses them. Citibike is a GRIFT!

English

@JessiAngel143 @davidjoemax lol this is the most substantive of a response you’re capable of.
English

@davidjoemax David go back home transplant and take your grift with u.
English

@Lit_bori1 @LuckySevenMoon lol I’m not talking about the mega rich. There are a ton of people making six figures that don’t own cars or have drivers. Please come back to reality. We have statistics about this sort of thing
English

@MartinScopes @LuckySevenMoon I wonder whose cars in the garages belong to.
English

@olive2247 @Duderichy You’re right. NYC should stop catering to the echo chamber of car owners and instead build a city for the majority of us without cars.
English

@Duderichy Ok. But many others do. Catering to your echo chamber is completely antithetical to NYC’s once diverse culture. You’re likely to have come to NYC because we’ve welcomed all that have been ostracized by their own communities, but your type has outworn our welcome.
English

<10% of the people I know in nyc have cars
rich or poor
Amra Olević Reyes@amrezy
I’m sorry but you absolutely do need a car in NYC
English

@LuckySevenMoon @Lit_bori1 NYC is full of rich people that don't own cars
English

@MartinScopes @Lit_bori1 He's right, the majority don't have the opportunity to own one because they're poor.
You think anyone with free will would choose to remain poor and have to deal with the mentally ill(defective humans), street barnacles(gang fags) and junkies(zombies)?
English

@MartinScopes The majority of residents don’t have it because they don’t have free will.
English

@MartinScopes You’re a clown who represents a small percentage of actual MTA users. Most MTA users (ex tourists) spend at least 2 hours utilizing the MTA each weekday.
The MTA is a master thief of people’s time in NYC.
That’s why I have 2 cars now.
English

@MartinScopes The majority in the outer boroughs have a car numbnuts.
