This is accurate. Unfortunately you have the usual suspects making up complete BS for outrage engagement such as:
Disney lied about the budget.
Disney is buying tickets themselves.
Disney spent $500 million on the marketing.
Any excuse they can invent to keep the grift going. A Star Wars movie with a budget of $166 million throws a wrench into all of their planned outage content for the month.

George never wanted to adapt The Hobbit in 1972, he came up with the concept of Willow then (he called it Munchkins originally), but it was always an original idea and (like Star Wars) intended it to be an mythological adventure for kids.
When George was making ROTJ and realizing he was burned out and wanted to end Star Wars, he started looking towards Willow; that's when he told Warwick Davis about it.
The other cool thing is how Lucas asked Ron Howard to make it and almost a decade later wanted Ron Howard to make The Phantom Menace. Howard famously turned it down because he thought Star Wars was too big for him, only to end up making a great Star Wars movie another ten years later.
