@ImAntCalabrese Smallest caffeinated beverage consumed by a salesperson 🐉
English

@ImAntCalabrese This is why genuine passion for your product and belief you are being helpful is important. Approaching the call KNOWING you’re trying to help the prospect also helps reduce pre call anxiety/jitters
English

As silly as this may sound, some of the most beneficial advice I could give to newer sales reps that haven't cold called much before is that the person that you're calling doesn't know you're a salesperson until you make it apparent that you're a salesperson.
Obviously, this is going to come up very quickly once you get past the hook and start getting into your pitch and explaining why you're calling; but I think a lot of people almost psych themselves up once they're actually making the dials and come in too hot, too anxious, talking too fast, whatever the case may be.
That's what leads to people perceiving you as a salesperson or a telemarketer and hanging up on you very quickly.
However, if you don't give off this energy and you're approaching it like you're just having a conversation with the prospect (of course you're calling with the ultimate goal of booking a meeting and seeing if it is something that will help their business and if it makes sense to discuss) - then the prospect won’t be as threatened off rip.
I think a lot of people would benefit from truly internalizing that they don't know you're a salesperson when they're first picking up the phone.
You want to lower their guard and disarm them so that they're more open to having a conversation with you, because if they know you're a salesperson, they're going to be thinking :
“This person is just trying to sell me something"
They're basically going to push you off the phone and/or hang up on you immediately.
If you just talk like a normal person, like you're having an eye-to-eye conversation with anybody else, like any other normal conversation that you would have in real life, sitting across the table from somebody, they're not going to have this reaction.
They're not going to feel as subconsciously threatened that you're trying to sell them something and that the only reason that you're calling them is to find time on their calendar or get money out of them.
Think about this.
It should reflect in your tone that they don't know that you're a salesperson again until you make it apparent that you are one. Come across more consultative, more genuinely curious and I bet you'll get into a lot more conversations and people will be a lot more receptive to talking to you and hearing you out…
Hope this helps.

@BrianLaManna_ In my first role as an SDR rn and it’s twice a week in-person hybrid. I love it, feels like the perfect mix. Save time being at home the majority of the week, but still see perks of being in office
English

I’m not sure I would have been successful in 2018 as an SDR if it wasn’t in office.
Fresh out of college, I had no idea what I was doing. How to open Salesforce, make a dial, what to say, how to handle an objection.
We learned from screwing up together, laughing, and following each other around when we had one live.
When we went remote in March 2021, I was pissed. I LOVED being in office.
A few months later, I LOVED being remote.
I had an extra 90 minutes. I started working out daily, eating healthier, and got way more done.
It hit me how much time I was losing between the commute and office chit chat.
I joined Gong in 2021 in big part because it was remote. I’d never consider mandatory in-person.
2023 - we opened up a Chicago office for Gong. I went 1-2x a month.
2024 - I started going 2x a week. Was great to see people, grab lunch, and “mix it up.”
2025 - I go every single week. Sometimes once. Sometimes 4x.
I love hybrid. Never being forced to be in office…
But having that option should you wish.
Can anyone else not make up their mind between in-person and remote?
Or just keep flip flopping like me?
P.S. No real point to this Tweet other than sharing things aren’t always black and white. And it’s OK to change your opinion.

Fernando Mendoza on his favorite pregame hype song "I honestly don't listen to hype songs because I have to stay cool, calm, and collected. I actually meditate and pray before the game. I think praying, in a way, is meditation to help myself be in my thoughts, as Quarterback is a cerebral position." #iufb #peachbowl #fernandomendoza
