BREAKING: A Norwegian company has just raised $40m to revolutionise chipmaking and take on ASML! To make chips manufacturers use a process called lithography which uses light to draw complex circuits that form the foundation of advanced artificial intelligence chips. Lace Lithography has developed a new approach that uses a helium atom beam. The cofounders, Bodil Holst and Adrià Salvador Palau, have spent their careers working across atomic beam physics, instrumentation engineering, and applied AI. Today the company has announced a $40m Series A led by Atomico (Sasha Vidiborskiy), with participation from M12 (Michael Stewart), Linse Capital, SETT, and Nysnø. The startup has developed prototypes with the aim of having a pilot up and running by 2029. VERY COOL - congrats!

@Ross__Hendricks Don’t buy it - I think more likely buyers are waiting for certainty - the note from the CEO of United Airlines who stated they were clearly expecting $175 oil and they weren’t expecting oil to get back down to $100 until the end of 2027 is the type of clarity they’re looking for

No, the reason energy stocks are lagging spot prices is because they're two entirely different things. Equities are priced on the expected future value of cash flows. Spot prices don't carry a one-for-one correlation with how much energy companies are expected to earn over the next 10+ years. What the market is most likely pricing in is a future collapse in energy prices, after the current price spike sends the global economy into recession. Whether that's the right assumption is the key question one needs to answer.
Kevin Malone@Malone_Wealth

Oil is up 55% in three weeks. Chevron $CVX is up 8% and Exxon $XOM is up 4.7% in the same time. Do you know why? Almost no institutions and large buyers are buying in. Which could set up for the biggest commodity rug-pull in history for all of the Mom and Pop investors being convinced by media to buy into this.

@filipcodes @g_shullenberger @pmarca You're not getting it, and introspection has nothing to do with introversion or extroversion (Jung 201). Are you really suggesting Napoleon read a book 7 times about suicide because it was a banger and wasn't able to introspect any of it?

@g_shullenberger @pmarca it's not either/or. there's both extroversion and introversion in everyone (jung 101). it's about relative structure and primacy. napoleon's relationship to werther was structurally distinct from werther's relationship to werther.

Again, a discussion we MUST have. Pushback is good. I welcome it. What I want is a full airing of all the evidence and unflinching exploration of all hypotheses. I WANT my fears dispelled. What I get is punishment and intimidation—the woke playbook. Thank you for resisting it.
Katherine van K@kattitfortat

What we need is pragmatism.  Bret, I have no issue with questioning anything Israel but you’re doing “the west” a disfavor by not using this moment in time more wisely. Your “questioning” is fine but your timing feels misguided. In all of your travels have you missed what is happening to Europe? Who are the most insidious perpetrators and destroyers of our western values? I think any government is capable of committing atrocities against its own people to attain a goal. After Covid there should be no doubt. So I’m going to entertain the possibility that October 7 was darker in origin than meets the eye and there certainly are valid questions unanswered. I’m going to entertain that Charlie Kirk’s killer is still on the loose protected by “those people”.  Be that as it may, I still rather sit alone in a train compartment in Europe with 5 Hasidic Jews than 5 Muslim youths. And I know for sure that if I was holding up a board that read “all Hasidic Jews smell like bad cheese” I’d still reach my destination unharmed.  The “west” is getting erased in front of our eyes and they haven’t needed a nuclear weapon to succeed. Why is it the Gulf states understand the rot their fundamentalists sow worldwide but not our most “educated elites”? Wake up!

On June 18th, I had a text exchange with Charlie Kirk. He said he was spending two full days at the White House trying to persuade President Trump not to initiate a war with Iran. Given that Charlie was close with the President and that he represented a large constituency essential to Trump, and given that many proponents of the war with Iran saw a U.S. attack as urgently necessary to the survival of Israel, it is reasonable to wonder if his refusal to back down from his steadfast opposition somehow resulted in his murder. A good investigation could have settled the matter. What we got only increases the reason for concern. Asking this question may be unforgivable, but it is in no way unreasonable. Charlie was in a strong position to keep us from doing what we have now done, and the timing of his death removed him from the equation and likely changed the course of history--as Charlie himself worried it might.
