Major Breaking News ‼️ Ethiopian Revocation of Eritrea’s State Recognition. The Ethiopian government is taking a bold and historic step by announcing the revocation of its official recognition of the Eritrean state. On April 17, 2026, high ranking Ethiopian authorities communicated with United Nations (UN) Security Council, citing Eritrea’s failure to fulfill its political mandate over the past three decades. The statement accuses the Eritrean regime of persistent instability, authoritarian governance, and actions that have repeatedly undermined regional peace and security. This move marks a significant shift in Ethiopia’s long-standing position toward its neighbor, effectively declaring that the independence granted in 1993 no longer holds legitimacy in Addis Ababa’s eyes due to Eritrea’s alleged inability to build a stable and cooperative state. By labeling the Eritrean regime as an imminent threat to the Horn of Africa, Ethiopia has signaled its readiness to reassess the geopolitical realities of the region. The revocation is being framed as a necessary response to years of unresolved border disputes, alleged interference in Ethiopian internal affairs, and broader destabilizing activities attributed to Asmara. This development is expected to have far-reaching implications for diplomacy, security arrangements, and potential future negotiations between the two nations. Observers anticipate heightened tensions, possible realignments among regional actors, and renewed debates over sovereignty and self-determination in the volatile Horn of Africa.

My thanks to President Isaias Afwerki for accepting my letter of credence. Though 🇨🇦 and 🇪🇷 have differences, our discussion focused primarily on where our interests align. I shared my desire for effective bilateral relations, centred on mutually beneficial partnerships.

They fled to escape repression, indefinite military service. they left to survive. The Egyptian government must take responsibility and respect International law. Protection is not optional. It is a duty. #ProtectEritreanRefugees @amnesty @UNHumanRights @hrw @RefugeesMedia

Indefinite national service is modern slavery. For years, young Eritreans have been trapped without choice, fair pay, freedom. Their dreams are delayed & futures stolen. Youth are forced to flee. This is not a service. This is control. #StopNationalServiceSlavery

Some ask why I keep hitting Eritrea's dictatorship. As a child I suffered under Soviet brutality and my dad was sentenced to death. I know what it's like. My soul hurts for those in similar situations, or have family members in Isaias' Gulag, and must stay silent. It will end!

Sweden met Eritrea’s FM. Simple question: Was Dawit Isaak raised—yes or no? If yes, what was demanded? If no, why not? Diplomacy without accountability risks normalizing indefinite detention. .@CoryBooker @SenTedCruz we need S. Pro Democratic Eritreans do not support cutting necks off of leaders, but we do support Justice, Diplomacy, debate, social media , and we want Eritreans not to fear to organize and mobilize. We do not support political violence. Dictators are only Dictators because of enablers and they don’t value justice.

Three leaders of the Eritrean Blue Revolution Movement have been detained in Ethiopia since 17 October 2025, without any charges. Detention without charge violates basic human rights. We call on the Ethiopian authorities to act now. #FreeThemAll #HumanRights @AbiyAhmedAli

In a country with no parliament, no published budget, and no functioning institutions, the president is out lifting rocks - just like the conscripts. Only difference? The conscripts are forced. He does it for the photo. They are not paid, he is paid in absolute power ! #Eritrea

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of meeting with Senator. .@CoryBooker multiple times to talk foreign policy, human rights, and justice. Watching him speak for over 25 hours on the Senate floor—tirelessly defending democracy and standing up for all Americans—was inspiring.

Opposing dictatorship is not an act of terrorism. The Eritreans arrested in #Giessen exercised their right to peaceful protest against a repressive regime, yet they now face unfounded charges. It is unacceptable for justice and freedom to be criminalized. We call for their immediate release. #BlueRevolution #JusticeForEritreans #TransnationalRepression #Eritrea #NoMorePFDJTerror @zeitonline @SZ @paulemunz @faznet @faz_RheinMain @dwnews @tazgezwitscher @hessenschau @StZ_NEWS @hrPresse @thorsten_winter @nico_killian @christinebilger @ChristophScheld @AnnaDotti @FraschDennis @lars_graue @stuttgart_stadt @pp_stuttgart @SWRAktuellBW @badischezeitung @SZ_Politik @BILD @BILD_Stuttgart
