@HClemenceau @thewarylemming @TheRealKeean If a province refuses to develop its resources, which causes a financial deficit that could be avoided, that is choosing not to support itself. Or like quebec, not including 50% of the hydro revenue, which also gets them bigger payments.

@MeAnnSel @thewarylemming @TheRealKeean Quebec does not “hide” Hydro revenues. Revenue from Hydro-Québec isn’t invisible to the formula. Hydro-Québec dividends and revenues are included in the formula. "Refuse to support themselves?" Other provinces have smaller tax bases, fewer natural resources.

@MeAnnSel @thewarylemming @TheRealKeean Equalization is not based on whether a province runs a deficit or surplus. Provinces don’t lose payments because they “refuse to support themselves.” The formula measures fiscal capacity - how much revenue a province could raise at average tax rates.

If Canadian content can't survive or compete without others constantly needing to prop it up with money then let it die. Our media machine can't survive without handouts, our entertainment content can't survive without handouts, the EV market can't survive without handouts, the steel industry can't survive without handouts, our auto sector is on deck. How much more can the Canadians tax payers back take propping up everything? But lets continue to burn our relationship with our largest trading partner.

From Mitch & John Bolton interview of a day ago. Little known fact. All FN Chiefs and Band offices were called 3x to be invited to a full day consultation session in Ponoka. None showed up. Consider themselves consulted. Move ahead.

🚨Where is the money McKenna?🚨 How come this story has just 'disappeared' from the national conversation? --> $187,000,000,000 !!Poof!! !!Gone!! <-- The Canadian media is 100% complicit in *another* Liberal cover-up. (Make sure to tag @cathmckenna - she's blocked me for some odd reason - maybe because I told everyone she ate dog when she was in China - Spoiler: She did!!!😜)

@HClemenceau @thewarylemming @TheRealKeean So they run a constant deficit despite generating more money. Quebec hides revenue from their hydro so they get more in equalization, and the rest- not including sassy Sk- refuse to support themselves.

@MeAnnSel @thewarylemming @TheRealKeean If you're going to talk "per capita," that's about $38 per person for Ontario. It only receives money at all because its revenue-raising ability per resident can sometimes be slightly below the benchmark.

Bullsh*t. Mitch Sylvestre invited 48 chiefs in Alberta to a meeting in Panoka. Sat there all day & not a single one showed up. We had very public and open town halls meetings for 2 years all across Alberta... First Nations had every opportunity to join in, but their leadership never did.

@itroncrypto @thewarylemming @TheRealKeean If we had a well functioning government, they would have immigration controls in place and then your claim would be irrelevant. Each province has the ability to support and prosper on it's own, equalization is not really needed.

@MeAnnSel @thewarylemming @TheRealKeean The existence of Ontario protects Alberta from decline. If Ontario wasn't so attractive to immigrants, the floodgates would be open, they would go to Alberta and all your metrics would drop further than Ontarios. Alberta is a non-diverse economy and can't handle the large volume.

THIS IS A MASSIVE SCANDAL FOR CARNEY! During the damn election, Mark Carney stood there with a straight face and claimed he owned nothing but cash and personal real estate, right?? like some regular guy with no hidden interests. Now we find out, after committee testimony, ethics disclosures, and him voting for Bill C-15, that it looks like a blatant lie. Democracy Watch is straight-up accusing him of breaking the law! Are you kidding me?! This is the kind of arrogant, insider elitist garbage that makes people sick of politicians. He lectures everyone else about transparency and ethics while apparently playing games with the rules? “ Canada Last, Brookfield Filthy Rich! “ If this holds up, Carney didn’t just mislead voters he betrayed the public’s trust in broad daylight. This needs real consequences, not another polite committee slap on the wrist. Enough with the hypocrisy! REPOST THIS IF YOU’VE HAD ENOUGH! GOD BLESS CANADA 🇨🇦❤️

It's amazing to watch over the past month, in particular, how much time and resources MSM poured into bashing Albertans and Alberta because of the independence movement. Platforming every irrelevant mouthpiece to tell everyone how bad a democratic process is and insult everyone, including Premier Danielle Smith and call her a separatist without anyone fact checking it once that she is not. I've never seen MSM put even 10% of the effort to hold the Liberal government accountable to why we have record homeless, why we have double digit youth unemployment, why 1/3 of Canadians need help affording food, why we have a lost decade, why our government are putting us in record debt with no way to pay for it. It's just solidifies the problem with Canada's culture; most Canadians will spend more effort attacking these who want to better themselves and their situation rather than actually face the truth and address what is actually happening in their country to fix it and build a better life and society for themselves.

His Worship Mayor Farkas is right to worry about jobs, investment, housing, public safety and social disorder. But he is wrong to blame Albertans for asking a democratic question about independence. The uncertainty facing Calgary is not caused by citizens debating their future. It is caused by a decade of failed Ottawa policy: capital flight, unaffordable housing, catch-and-release justice, uncontrolled immigration pressures, higher taxes, red tape and federal hostility to the resource economy that built this city. RBC says more than $1 trillion of investment left Canada between 2015 and 2024. Statistics Canada confirms GDP per capita has fallen in consecutive years. That is the real uncertainty. The Quebec analogy is also incomplete. The loss of Montreal head offices was tied to the extreme French language-law known as Bill 101 and the resulting flight of English speaking Quebecers. Calgarians do not need lectures about fear. They need leadership with open eyes. If Mayor Farkas truly wants to protect Calgarians’ jobs, safety and future prosperity, he should at least acknowledge that Ottawa’s policies are a central cause of the crisis—and that Albertans have every right to consider independence as the democratic path to a freer and more prosperous future. On this question, the mayor gets one vote, just like every other Albertan.
Jeromy (Pathfinder) Farkas@JeromyYYC

Voting on whether to have a vote is a ridiculous lack of provincial leadership. Calgary is a globally connected city. Separation uncertainty is costing us jobs. We have real work to do: building homes, improving public safety, fixing infrastructure, growing our economy, and making life better.

🚨REMEMBER: THE GOV'T OF CANADA OWNS THIS LAND. But get this... The Gov't of Canada leases it to Maritime Launch for $13,500 a year... ...who then fucking leases it back to the Government of Canada for $20 million a year!!! WHAT ARE WE EVEN DOING HERE? @explorerrook @RiseOfAlberta 1. Show me where I said that my family opposed rule of law. That comment right there shows how your brain works. If you are supporting this government and what they are doing, your probably a disappointment to your family who fought against this.

@MeAnnSel @RiseOfAlberta You are claiming your family has always opposed the rule of law? They resented our having a constitution? My family fought for and helped build a Canada that believes in Peace, Order and Good Government. Your anarchist values do not seem like Canadian values.

94% of Alberta's Court of Appeal judges were appointed by Ottawa Liberals. 83% of Alberta's Court of King's Bench judges were appointed by Ottawa Liberals. Alberta votes Conservative. Alberta is judged Liberal. Independence fixes this.

@CommonS67191926 @IgorRyltsev I am trying real hard to see it your way. I truly believe Smith defends and supports democracy. She was not a support for independence, we knew she was against it, but she opened pathways that were blocking democracy. That was enough. Now I don't know what to think.

@IgorRyltsev She’s a Masterclass in political management. Sidestepped the barriers surrounding a vote on independence with intelligence and class. Independence didn’t die, it moved forward. If Albertans want it they’ll get it. Worst case, Alberta sovereignty. Either way, it’s a win win for AB

Danielle Smith just shocked Alberta independence supporters. After 7,000 canvassers, hundreds of thousands of signatures, years of organizing, rallies, debates, and political momentum… Albertans expected a DIRECT independence question. Instead, we got a referendum about possibly holding a referendum later. Honestly, it feels like a political nothing burger. BUT… Strategically, this may still backfire on Ottawa in a massive way. Because if over 50% of Albertans vote YES to even BEGIN the legal process toward an independence referendum, Mark Carney and the federal establishment will realize something terrifying: Alberta is no longer asking for permission. People are angry. People are waking up. And Ottawa should be very nervous right now. The bigger question now is this: Did Danielle Smith make a strategic move… or did she just betray the momentum of the independence movement?

Last week the CBC got caught lying to a Conservative MP and RCMP members so they would unwittingly be part of CBCs gross entrapment. This week they are proactively protecting 14 Liberal elected MP’s who actually wrote a letter to harm a provincial economy. Canadians deserve better! Defund and dissolve the CBC.

@AudioMutual @TheRealKeean ON has more total wealth due to its sheer size. AB GDP per capita is significantly higher than ON's when adjusted for population. ON receives appx $406 million in equalization, Alberta receives 0. So if ON is richer than AB, why do you take all that money for equalization?
