"Why is road pricing likely to happen, how might it work and what are the potential obstacles?" @GwynTopham writes in this piece that "Singapore has arguably come closest to a comprehensive road-pricing scheme". Read more⬇️ theguardian.com/business/2022/…

The science is very clear: urgent climate action is needed. The cost of inaction—to our economy, livelihoods, the environment, and Londoners' health—would be far greater than the cost of taking the necessary action to reach net zero, and reduce air pollution.

👏💚 Genuine milestone for our work. Today is the first time the Mayor has ever talked seriously about creating a smarter system of charging for road travel. 🤔⏱ After 6 years of Greens pushing him - in some despair - for London to take the lead. 1/

1.) Fellow drivers: We must know our place. We are not the ‘King of the Road’. We’re the lowly common people. These folks here are #roadsideroyalty 👑👑 The kings and queens, princes and princesses of #activetravel. Bow down to their every move, let them pass when needed….

Particulate matter is a serious issue. Wood-burning stoves emit 750 times more particulate pollution than a modern HGV. Thank you to @MumsForLungs for campaigning so tirelessly to raise awareness on this issue.

📢Expanded #ULEZ first month report reveals that on an average weekday there were 11,000 fewer vehicles driving each day in the zone, a 1% reduction. It's estimated there will be a 5% reduction in CO2 emissions from cars & vans in the newly expanded zone in its first year.

Air pollution kills an estimated ten million people each year. But it does much more than that, too. A long thread on what it means that more than 90 percent of the world's population is breathing dangerously polluted air. (1/x) lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v43/…

Walking, #cycling & using public transport should be made more attractive than driving to help tackle #London's #AirPollution, climate & inactivity crises. @grantshapps please give @TfL fair, long-term funding for active travel and improving public transport to avoid carmageddon.
