We all get these accusations - "You're just saying that to raise money." But all these lawyers would make so much more in the private sector - shucks, I'm not a lawyer and I'm pretty sure even I could make more in the private sector.
Plus, we lose far more than we win, and your heart breaks every time. This work is not for the faint of heart and you don't do it to make money. You do it because you believe in the gun rights cause, and it is literally an investment of your life.

There's a certain segment of the pro-2A crowd that thinks gun groups are out to "get" them by milking endless lawsuits. While you should of course be smart in who you give your money to, this idea is conspiracist brainrot. I promise you, I live in California and would love nothing more to win our major lawsuits and be done with the question forever. It's also not as if there is big money in constitutional litigation anyway. Not even sure what this commenter is implying here...how can we do anything but react? We can't sue before a law exists, as we'd have no standing. If you want to prevent these laws from happening in the first place, win elections. Don't be mad at the groups trying to help you.

Well, maybe your jackass Democrat friends in New York and New Jersey shouldn't have arrested hundreds of people at airports, and then told them to "Tell it to the judge" when it came to FOPA protections.
A big reason this is necessary is because some antigun states openly violate FOPA, so mailing guns is the safer alternative.

They aren't "anti-violence advocates," they are gun ban advocates. The Trace should stop with the euphemisms.
If they were anti-violence advocates, they would admit they were wrong and withdraw their demand for gun control laws when the violence they predicted did not come to pass. But they never do that.
For example, let's say this handgun mailing thing goes into effect, a couple of years pass, and there is no increase in any crime attributable to this change. A truly anti-violence advocate would say "OK, I guess we were wrong, we withdraw our opposition to this, mailing handguns under these USPS procedures is fine."
But a gun ban advocate won't make the same concession, because banning guns - and not stopping violence - is the real goal.
Also, the use of "anti-violence" advocates implies their opposition is pro-violence, which is also BS.

Now this is REALLY funny.
The Trace is arguing mailing handguns isn't necessary, because ATF rule changes will clarify FOPA protections to cover incidental stops.
But the antigunners (including the Trace's sister org, Everytown) are all very angry about that change (and others), and will probably submit a comment letter opposing it, and will support antigun states who may sue to stop the change.

Yes, the late Sam Slom. He was good man who moved out to Hawaii in his college years and never left. He said his experience was that everyone was nice to him because they knew he was unable to stop anything they wanted to do. He did say that at times, he was able to convince them.

This map seems off to me. While I am worried about Arizona's future if it gets more Dem, for now it remains firmly pro gun.
Ditto North Carolina, which isn't perfect (no constitutional carry), but I think makes the cut. Same with Ohio, not sure why that's marked yellow.
Maine is not antigun, it should be green. I'd make Vermont yellow. Michigan, Nevada, and Wisconsin are probably somewhere between green and yellow.
