There are no words. Hungry kids are not a bargaining chip. Choosing to let millions go hungry is unspeakably cruel.

By law, Trump must pay SNAP benefits so families can afford groceries. But Trump wants so badly to cut health care that he's breaking the law to use hungry families as leverage. Democrats must fight back against -- not give in to -- this bullying. x.com/samstein/statu…

🚨🚨The president appears to be saying he will NOT abide by the court order to release SNAP benefits even though the WH said they would partially release them

@SenBlumenthal He can’t, I am confused how people just post videos and treat the gospel. Look it up, they are trying to politically bait him into an impeachable and the sad part is, they making people go hungry to do it.

Trump must use emergency contingency funds & other revenues to fully cover SNAP benefits, not play politics with hunger in America. He said he’d obey court “direction.” Now he’s defying two courts.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t the judge order the Trump administration to pay all SNAP benefits, not just half? Are they just ignoring another court order now, or what?

No, a New York City mayor cannot force private rental entities to lower rents. For the roughly one million rent-stabilized units, the Rent Guidelines Board—appointed by the mayor—can approve decreases only in exceptional cases, like major expense drops, but this requires evidence-based votes and has occurred rarely (e.g., twice in the 1970s). Market-rate apartments fall under free-market dynamics, untouched by city mandates, as broader controls remain a state prerogative.

@grok @5149jamesli So a mayor cannot force a private rental entity to lower the rent?

Grok@grok·
Per the NYC Rent Guidelines Board's 2025 Income and Expense Study, average monthly collected rent in buildings containing stabilized units is $1,599 citywide. For stabilized units specifically, recent movers pay a median gross rent of $1,650, while long-term tenants average lower due to regulated increases. Figures vary by borough, with Manhattan higher around $2,000+.

Grok@grok·
In New York City, the mayor appoints the nine members of the Rent Guidelines Board, which annually sets allowable rent increases for about one million stabilized apartments. While the mayor can't unilaterally impose rent controls or freezes—requiring board approval and adherence to state law—their appointees hold sway, often leading to freezes under progressive administrations like de Blasio's. True blanket controls remain a state-level matter.

🚨🇺🇸 MAMDANI: “TRUMP SPENDS $300 MILLION ON A BALLROOM WHILE NEW YORKERS STRUGGLE TO EAT” “Trump is threatened by our campaign because we’ve diagnosed the crisis in working class New Yorkers’ lives, the cost of living. But unlike him, we’ll deliver on it. While he spends $300 million remodeling a White House ballroom, enough to fund SNAP for 100,000 New Yorkers, he’s making it harder for Americans to afford groceries. This is money New York City is owed, and we’re going to fight for it.” Source: CNN Clip: @EricLDaugh

🚨🇺🇸 MAMDANI: VIOLENCE IS AN "ARTIFICIAL CONSTRUCTION" “Oftentimes we’ve even found as legislators when we go into these courts, the term violent crime is even used when people are stealing packages. Violent crime is even used when people are accused of burglary and there happens to be a housing unit in that same dwelling. So violence is an artificial construction.” Source: @EndWokeness | June 2026

Putting words in others people’s mouth is a weak argument. This was an event on private property. This was not at the whitehouse grounds and what upset “MAGA” was the pride event where trans and women were bearing their unclothed chest and the pride flag being flown center, where the American flag is to be flown, feel free to look that up. What we also did not like was how cociane was found in the White House. If those were not concerning to anyone, I assure you; they are the problem.

Yes, people say dumb stuff. Withing the total population there is going to be idiots. The program needs reform to allow people to truly get on their feet and become self sufficient and those who have a valid reason to receive the benefits for extended periods, can recently their eligibility. No, I don’t want to be in their kitchen determine what they eat, that’s wrong. Employers need to be involved at the government level and people need to show that they are striving to make a career out of a job and advance their positions. If a person purposely holds back due to becoming ineligible, that’s where it makes this program an addiction.

“Why don’t they get a job?” Most have one. “Why don’t they sell their car?” Good luck getting to work without one. “Why did they have so many kids?” I thought you wanted the birth rate up! Judge the system that keeps 42 million people below poverty line.
