Terrible deal. I don’t understand how Trump, who has four years under his belt with Putin, constantly gets played. Trump moves to normalize relations with Russia for trinkets. This ceasefire, if it starts and Russia doesn’t violate it, disproportionately helps Russia, whose energy infrastructure is getting pounded by Ukraine. For 35 years, six Republican and Democrat administrations, has succumbed to manipulation. Russia has been extremely successfully dangling small wins and threatening terrible consequences to get the U.S. to compromise and capitulate. But no one has been played as hard as Trump. He consistently claims grand successes, for at best, token achievements. A phone call isn’t an achievement. A watered down ceasefire in exchange for dividing our alliance is a significant cost. I strongly recommend you read my latest New York Times bestselling book, The Folly of Realism: How The West Deceived Itself About Russia and Betrayed Ukraine. You will see the pattern of mistakes being amplified by Trump and get a cheat sheet on how to actually put America First.

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson didn't invoke Weimar Germany as a rhetorical flourish. She cited a specific scholar by name in a footnote: Ernst Fraenkel, a Jewish labor lawyer who observed the Nazi legal system from the inside, smuggled his manuscript out of Berlin in 1938, and published "The Dual State" at the University of Chicago in 1941. Fraenkel's framework is precise. The Nazis didn't immediately collapse Germany's legal system. They left courts functioning - particularly in contracts and economic matters - while placing Jews and political enemies in a separate lawless zone where no legal protection applied. Most Germans lived in the law-bound "normative state." The targeted lived in the "prerogative state." The facade of normalcy was the mechanism of control. Jackson invoked Fraenkel to name what the court's Republican majority is doing in real time. In 21 consecutive shadow docket cases, the six conservative justices have let Trump opt out of the law - often with no explanation given at all. They blessed ICE racial profiling without citing a single legal justification. They allowed Trump to ignore $4 billion in congressionally appropriated foreign aid. They stripped lower courts of the ability to issue universal relief, meaning only those with resources to file individual lawsuits get protection from illegal presidential action. Constitutional law professor Evan Bernick put it plainly: "The court is adjusting the law to make place for arbitrary power." Jackson's dissent is not hyperbole. A footnote citing a 1941 manuscript about Nazi legal architecture is a Supreme Court justice blowing the cover on what her colleagues are building.

The man who spent years whining that the government illegally spied on his campaign is now demanding Congress let him spy on every American—without a warrant. FISA 702 is the real threat to Americans’ privacy: warrantless surveillance of U.S. persons under the guise of targeting foreigners. Far bigger than the Title I abuse Trump complains about. Stop electing hypocrites who trash the Constitution. Tell Congress: Vote NO on FISA 702.

A revealing moment. Donald Trump openly admits he ordered the destruction of a major civilian bridge in Iran purely out of spite because Iranian officials embarrassed him in the press. The White House is treating a catastrophic war like a petty reality TV show.

BREAKING: Trump announces plan to allow corporations to dump coal ash – which is TWICE as radioactive as *nuclear fuel* – into our drinking water! Yes, you read that right. Trump’s EPA is proposing to weaken rules for the safe disposal of super-mega-toxic ash produced by burning coal that contains hazardous heavy metals and contaminates groundwater. “The Trump administration proposed easing standards for monitoring and protecting groundwater near some coal ash sites, and rolling back rules that require the cleanup of entire coal properties rather than just the sites where ash was dumped. The revisions would also make it easier to reuse coal ash for other purposes,” reports the Associated Press. EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin said the proposal reflects the agency’s “commitment to restoring American energy dominance, strengthening cooperative federalism, and accommodating unique circumstances at certain (coal) facilities.” The rules were strengthened by – you guessed it – the Biden administration a few years ago, and now Trump is trying to gut them on behalf of his cronies in Big Coal. It is shocking to see just how eagerly the Trump administration is gutting all the regulations that keep us safe. “The Trump administration just took a sledgehammer to the health protections in place for toxic coal pollution,” said Lisa Evans, senior counsel at environmental group Earthjustice. “This is yet another handout to the coal power industry at the expense of our health, water, and wallets.” He is more than willing to make us drink poison and develop terrible cancers, all so his donors can save a little bit of money on cleaning up the toxic byproducts of their carbon pollution. There is nothing sacred to these nihilistic scumbags, no respect for anything but their own bottom lines. Trump is willing to burn everything to the ground just so he can be king of the ashes – with not a care in the world for the millions of people who will suffer and die because of his decisions.

🚨 Budapest now: 17 years of Orbán's rule ended tonight — in the streets. The man who shielded Netanyahu, blocked every EU resolution against the genocide in Gaza, opened his skies to an ICC-wanted fugitive… was brought down by his own people at the ballot box. A lesson to every tyrant: the chair is temporary. The people remain.

@Cypher1984 Is there a way to keep Amazon off your fire stick? They're flooding it with ads and ruining it by overloading it with Amazon bloatware. So you can have a fire stick from years ago and they're putting new crap on it now to ruin it.

If corporations allow you to sign up with one click, you should be able to cancel with one click too. Subscription traps, whether from an app or gym membership, are just another way corporations take advantage of working people.  We've already put hundreds of companies on notice. This week, we proposed a rule that would make NYC a national leader in cracking down on abusive practices that nickel-and-dime New Yorkers.

The disclosure sequence here is what courts care about. DOGE gets access to Social Security data. Court blocks it. Supreme Court allows it to resume. Then DOJ admits it gave the court incorrect information during those proceedings. Then discloses: unauthorized server used for the data, and a secret agreement with a political group to analyze voter data tied to overturning election results. The conduct was happening while the court was deciding whether to allow the conduct. The incorrect information was provided while the court was making that decision. The Fourth Circuit sent it back down for a fresh look with the newly disclosed facts included. It flagged "even more alarming" developments it didn't detail. The case now goes to discovery - meaning the full scope of the agreement, who the political group was, and what they did with the data, will be subject to legal compulsion. Social Security numbers. Medical records. Financial records. Millions of Americans. A secret political operation. Courts told something incorrect during the proceedings. The Fourth Circuit called it alarming. It said so twice.

@aakashgupta Amazon is also ruining the fire stick. They are adding apps (even on old fire sticks) that you can't get rid of. They take up space so the apps you actually use don't work AND they are running commercials over your apps. Pause your app for a min & you come back commercials. FUAMZ

Amazon found a way to charge 200 million people for something they already owned. Twice. Step 1: Insert ads into a product people were already paying $139/year for. Step 2: Charge $2.99/mo to remove the ads you just added. Step 3: Take away 4K, which was free for years. Step 4: Charge $4.99/mo to get it back. Total time: 26 months. Total new revenue at even 15% conversion: $1.8 billion per year. The genius is the sequencing. No single step is outrageous enough to cancel over. You don't cancel Prime over $3. You don't cancel over $5. You definitely don't cancel over 4K because most people don't even notice the resolution downgrade until they watch on a big screen. Amazon needed $3.6 billion per year in new revenue to cover NFL and NBA rights. They got halfway there by selling people back their own product one feature at a time.
